We are looking for a passionate and driven Staff Engineer to join our growing engineering team at Nayya. As a Staff Engineer at a fast-paced, growth-stage startup, you will be a key player in building and scaling our platform, contributing to both technical and strategic decisions, and helping to shape the future of the company. We are seeking a candidate who thrives in an environment that prioritizes impatience, excellence, resilience and courage—someone who is excited about making an immediate impact while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

You will work alongside a talented team of engineers to develop innovative solutions, tackle complex technical challenges, and maintain a strong focus on delivering high-quality products. You will have the opportunity to drive key initiatives and influence the direction of the product while fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Execution

  • Build, Design, and Scale: Own and architect key systems and components of our platform. Work across the stack to design and implement scalable, efficient, and robust solutions.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to understand user needs, define technical requirements, and deliver end-to-end solutions that drive value.
  • Drive Engineering Excellence: Set high standards for code quality, maintainability, and performance. Advocate for best practices and contribute to the development of internal engineering standards and guidelines.
  • Innovate with Agility: Be comfortable with ambiguity and rapidly evolving requirements. Develop and deploy solutions iteratively, ensuring we are always learning and improving our processes.

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Support Growth: Mentor and guide less experienced engineers, providing feedback and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. Help others improve their technical skills and grow into leadership roles.
  • Foster Collaboration: Encourage and lead by example in creating an open, respectful, and collaborative engineering culture where diverse perspectives are heard, and ideas can be challenged.

Ownership & Problem-Solving

  • Drive Impact: Own technical initiatives from inception to deployment, driving projects that significantly impact the product, users, and business.
  • Courageous Problem-Solving: Take bold and calculated risks when tackling complex problems. Approach challenges with an innovative mindset, never shying away from the unknown but solving problems with creativity and resilience.

Continuous Improvement & Agile Practices

  • Iterate Quickly: Embrace a growth mindset and drive improvement cycles within your work. Stay agile, reacting to changing needs while maintaining technical rigor.
  • Optimizing for Speed and Quality: Help the team balance speed and quality, ensuring features are shipped rapidly without sacrificing the stability and performance of the product.

Cross-Functional Influence & Communication

  • Drive Alignment: Work closely with product managers and business leaders to ensure that engineering decisions align with the broader business strategy and user needs.
  • Transparent Communication: Maintain open, transparent communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Explain complex technical concepts in a clear and approachable manner.

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally at a fast-paced startup or growth-stage company.
    • Proven track record in designing, building, and scaling high-performance systems.
    • Experience in at least one modern programming language such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, Go, Ruby, etc.
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and microservices architecture.
    • Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Mindset & Values:
    • Agility: Ability to rapidly adapt to shifting priorities, new information, and changing market conditions.
    • Excellence: High standards for quality, scalability, and performance; constantly striving to deliver the best possible solution.
    • Courage: Comfortable making decisions with imperfect information and navigating through uncertainty. A willingness to take calculated risks and step up to challenges.
  • Collaboration & Leadership:
    • Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to mentor and coach others in a positive, supportive way.
  • Problem-Solving & Innovation:
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to take a creative, innovative approach to technical challenges.
    • A growth mindset and passion for continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a growth-stage startup or high-growth company where you’ve had the opportunity to wear multiple hats and contribute across the stack.
  • Familiarity with microservices, serverless architectures, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Experience with data-driven decision-making, using metrics and monitoring to guide development efforts and measure success.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in tech communities.
