OHTECH | OARnet Engineering Team-JMOARnet manages a statewide, ultra-high-speed, fiber-optic network providing internet and networking services for the state of Ohio's higher education, K-12 education, state and local government, public broadcasting, health care and research sector, over an advanced telecommunication cyberinfrastructure. We are looking for students to join our team as cybersecurity student interns. This is a paid student internship experience that aims to expose interns to a variety of engineering functions relevant to a statewide research and education network, while providing mentorship, specialized training, and certification opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities include assisting with:
Data analytics such as out of profile data usage patterns
Policies, standards, and guidelines development
Python programming
Distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) mitigation
Log auditing and automation
Incident response
Vulnerability scanning
Threat intelligence / alert automation
Red Team exercises
Other duties as assigned
Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH) is the technology and information division of the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) and includes the Ohio Supercomputer Center, OARnet and OhioLINK.
Required Education/Experience:
Student must be enrolled in a degree-granting program in Ohio.
Must be able to work at least 12 hours per week.
Desired Education/Experience:
Enrolled in a degree-granting program related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) including but not limited to computer science or computer engineering.
Preferred customer service experience.

Additional Information:
This position offers employment throughout the year, including the summer months and academic breaks, optionally.
Work schedule: Flexible hours, primarily during 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday-Friday.
OARnet is a 24x7 operation; work hours and shift schedules may vary depending on student class schedule.
Position is currently hybrid/remote (location is on West Campus – 1224 Kinnear Road, Columbus, OH 43212).
