Role Overview
This position is to help manage the optimisation, integration & customisation of security technologies within the Security Services department and have the opportunity to develop your skills in Security Technologies.
Team Background
• This role sits within our Cyber Services team and reports to our Senior Security Engineer.
• This team has oversight/responsibility for Security Advisory, Vulnerability Management, Incident Response , Forensic Investigations and Security Engineering.
• This role will be primarily to assist the Engineering function but also to support tasks within the wider Team.
What you will help us to achieve
As a Junior Security Engineer this role will involve:
• Acting as the Junior subject matter expert to assess the implementation of security solutions
• Support the Senior Security Engineer to manage the impact of change in relation to technology, products, processes and legislation and assist the team in implementing the change.
• Assist the Senior Security Engineer in the implementation of Security solutions.
• Support the wider security teams in the developments of designs, roadmaps, checklists and documentation.
• Close out any project tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Security Infrastructure Capacity Planning & Management
• Attend project meetings and maintain strong relationships
• Champion and Support projects in the Security Management area
• Work as part of the Cyber Services Team and ensure delivery of Tasks
• Seek opportunities to automate, improve service and productivity.
What you will need to be successful in the role
• Good experience in security engineering and solutions.
• Good understanding of the major networking protocols (IPv4/IPv6/TCP/UDP/DNS/SMPT)
• An understanding of the major operating systems
• An understanding of enterprise business applications, networks and systems
• Good level of critical security technology configuration and implementation
• Good information security skills (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability)
• Good skills in change and configuration management
• Good troubleshooting skills
• An understanding of enterprise organizations
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Recommended Industry certifications (CompTIA Security + , CompTIA Network +, CEH or similar)
• Recommended vendor certification (CCNA Security, MCSE, Red Hat Expert Level)
• Keeps abreast of developments in the IT field (e.g. through reading, training, internet, seminars, discussions, experiment with new techniques and tools, etc.) and readily shares, applies and promotes new learnings.
