Principal - Data & Governance Metrics, will play a critical role in ensuring that the organization’s Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) processes are aligned with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal processes. This position will involve developing and maintaining data driven insights and metrics to enhance the effectiveness of the IGA processes for Northern Trust.  The role will report to the Director, Identity Governance and Administration, ensuring execution of strategic roadmaps related to 1st line of defense IAM governance practices.  This hands-on tactical role will also be responsible for executing identity governance policy, standards and control adherence and serve as a principal partner in strengthening and maintaining productive alliances with business units.  Additionally, this position will be instrumental in aligning with business, technology, information security and other corporate teams to establish and strengthen adoption of identity practices, standards and controls.  The selected candidate will partner with IAM architecture, engineering, operations and program teams to ensure that identity governance and administration strategy and roadmaps are in alignment with other IAM capabilities and towers of work.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Monitor and assess compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and policies related to Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) including but not limited to SOX, SOC1, SOC2, GDPR, NIST and industry-specific regulation
  • Develop, implement and maintain IGA policies and procedures in accordance with compliance requirements and industry best practices
  • Coordinate and participate in regular audits and assessment of IGA controls. Generate report and documentation to demonstrate compliance status
  • Define and create key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of IGA processes, including access controls, identity lifecycle management and compliance
  • Generate regular reports and dashboards to communicate IGA performance and other cyber security metrics to stakeholders including executive leadership, Business Units, and auditors
  • Generate risk and governance reports and dashboards to communicate IGA adherence and other cyber security metrics to stakeholders including executive leadership, Business Units, and auditors
  • Utilize advanced data analytics and data science techniques to provide high level and detailed insights from internal and external data sources, identify trends, and facilitate data-driven decision-making

4. As an IAM subject area expert, provides comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at a high technical level

 

6. Role is balanced between high level operational execution and development, and execution of strategic direction of business function activities

 

 

  • Manages the offshore development and onshore support functions for IAM platforms and applications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of data science techniques and principles, reporting dashboard development and audit based compliance reporting
  • Broad understanding of identity and access management, with expert knowledge in identity governance and administration
  • Understanding of identity related regulatory requirements for all global regions
  • Strong aptitude to develop and maintain internal and external business relationships and to leverage those relationships in pursuit of day-to-day goals and responsibilities
  • Excellent consultative skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  • In-depth Functional / Industry Knowledge is required
  • Knowledge of information security, network management, operating systems, software development, database systems and information technology concepts needed to effectively manage the group
  • Analytical and problem solving skills are required
  • Leadership and organizational skills are required to develop periodic goals and to manage and motivate team members towards the goals set
  • A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required
  • Industry certification such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, SANS, etc. is desired

Salary Range:

$137,400 - 233,600 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
