About the Team
The GSMA Industry Security team is continually enhancing the support offered to its membership as the threats targeting the mobile ecosystem emerge. Our vision is to provide value for our membership in three main areas:
Industry collaboration by convening membership to define industry specifications, facilitating intelligence sharing, promoting baseline controls, conducting external collaboration to ensure industry alignment.
Providing expertise through subject matter experts by supporting solution and service offering development to internal and external stakeholders, as well as promoting industry Fraud and Security awareness.
Defining the future by looking forward by assessing, analysing and reporting on the industry threat landscape. This is also done through engagement with standards bodies and reviewing new technologies to ensure adequate protection by design
About the Role
Reporting to GSMA’s Technical Security Director within the Security and Fraud team, the Security & Fraud Policy Liaison Manager will act as a key interface between the technical security & fraud team and the policy teams within GSMA, aligning security and fraud technical matters with policy topics.
They will have a global view of how technical security and fraud matters are developing and with this knowledge play a key role in shaping the external engagement across a number of external organisations and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a clear understanding of the industry needs, in collaboration with GSMA Policy teams, will help develop and refine policy strategies in the area of security and fraud matters to ensure these strategies are effectively represented.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Work collaboratively with GSMA Policy teams and GSMA members (directly and through GSMA working groups) to provide technical input into security and fraud policy and regulatory strategies, ensuring alignment of GSMA’s global and regional positions.
Build relationships and engage directly with external stakeholders (e.g. GSMA members, regulators, other industry associations and legislation implementation working parties), in support of agreed GSMA policy and technical positions.
Work with the Policy teams to help develop GSMA policy positions to be used with external stakeholders
Coordinate and align global, regional and local activities across policy teams and provide Subject Matter Expertise on cybersecurity and fraud policy issues to support a single voice for the industry.
Support the development of GSMA messaging and policy resources including , whitepapers, explainers, and related documentation with both internal and external member stakeholders.
Identify and address emerging needs in mobile security and fraud policy and ensure these are addressed by relevant GSMA teams.
Develop and deliver presentations and speeches based on agreed GSMA positions, at major conferences and seminars to industry experts, senior management and other relevant stakeholders for mobile and other industries
Work within cross-functional teams composed of members from global Policy teams, regional teams, and technical and commercial areas of GSMA.
Maintain GSMA process and procedural documents, to ensure transparency and compliance with GSMA policy positions and messaging.
About You
You will have previous experience within a Mobile Network Operator or mobile operator equipment vendor.
You will have experience with collaborating on policy-related initiatives within a Cyber Security regulatory environment, including engagement with external stakeholders.
You will have a broad knowledge of the mobile security threats faced and technologies used (legacy, current and future), and enjoy the respect of industry security professionals.
You will have effective research and organisation skills with key attention to detail and delivery of documentation.
You will be a clear communicator, capable of communicating complex technical matters in an understandable style to non experts.
You will effectively work with others to make up for gaps in your experience or knowledge.
You will have a passion for consensus building across a wider range of industry and regulatory stakeholders.
You will have a strong sense of business ethics and principles.
You will display cultural understanding and sensitivity, recognising that GSMA is a global organisation with members from many countries and cultures.
You will be willing undertake global travel as required, especially during initial relationship building stage of this role.
