About the teamThe Security Operations Analyst is the first line of defence in the Security Operations Center (SOC). This role is responsible for real-time monitoring and initial analysis of security events and alerts. The analyst plays a crucial role in identifying potential security threats and escalating them to higher tiers as necessary, ensuring the overall security posture of the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Detect and analyse security incidents from various security tools (SIEM, EDR etc)
  • Processing of Security alerts, events and notifications from multiple feeds
  • Collaborate with the incident response teams to investigate the security incidents and to follow it up for remediation
  • Document the incident findings and escalate to next tier support teams, if necessary
  • Attend and actively participate in team ceremonies (stand-ups, retros, and planning meetings)
  • Respond to incidents coordinated by Incident Response teams.
  • Develop security operation checklists.
  • Investigate security-related, information system anomalies based on security platform
  • reporting, network traffic, log files, host-based and automated security alerts.
  • Being on-call and providing after hours support / response.
  • Oversee third-party Security Operations Center (SOC), incident investigation and triage.
  • Contribute to creating documentation and updating runbooks and process documents for Security Operations.

Education & experience

  • Professional degree in Computer Science from a reputed college with consistent academic record
  • Proven work experience (3 to 8 years) as a security analyst / engineer or information security engineer.
  • Minimum Experience required- 2 yrs
  • Hands-on experience in security systems, including SIEM, EDR, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication Systems, log management, content filtering, etc
  • Ability to discuss and articulate Security Practices and technologies
  • Knowledge of Malware families, hacking techniques, latest vulnerabilities and Security trends
  • Exhibit good judgement in managing workload, including when to communicate project risks. 
  • In-depth understanding of cybersecurity principles, practices, and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with common cyber threats, attack vectors, and ATP's
  • Understanding cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Proficient with incident response procedures and best practices.
  • Understanding of vulnerability management tools and practices.
  • Knowledge of cryptographic protocols and key management.
  • Understanding of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate security tasks.
  • Dedication to staying updated with the latest security trends, tools, and techniques.
  • Proficiency in creating clear and comprehensive security documentation, reports, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) and industry standards (ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Entry-level Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH or GSEC.
