Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Converged Infrastructure Administrator for the USAFWC Test & Exercise support at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, NV.  

 

Candidate will be responsible for work in a multitasking, quick-paced, dynamic environment supporting USAF Warfare Center Large Force Exercises, Operational Test and Tactics Development. Candidate will support planning and execution of Chairman, Joint Chief of Staff (CJCS), Combatant Command (COCOM), and Major Command (MAJCOM)-level exercises and events.

Responsibilities

At MTSI, we are at the forefront of technological innovation, and we're looking for a Converged Infrastructure Administrator who will work with a team of: data engineers, data scientists, software engineers, network engineers, and cybersecurity to support exercise big data analysis and development testing environment. You will be expected to supervise all aspects of the configuration, maintenance, and management of: ESXi Hypervisor and hosted servers, virtual desktops, PKI remote zero client infrastructure, and Local Area Network (LAN)s. Systems being maintained will consist of an ESXi Hypervisor hosting: Windows, Linux, SQL Server, Active Directory, NTP, etc. with minimal administration of Postgres, MySQL, Hadoop, Hive, and suite of Horton Works tools. The ideal candidate will have experience maintaining systems within a DoD Risk management Framework (RMF) accredited environment, have a strong background in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of virtualization environments (ESXi, VMware Horizon View, RedHat), have experience working with containerization/Kubernetes environments, have strong Windows and Linux administration skills, have a good understanding and experience maintaining zero clients, and Active Directory / LDAP, and must enjoy working on and integrating cutting edge technologies. Candidates must be self-motivated and capable of working independently with little supervision / direct tasking. You will be a valuable member of the team and will be expected to use your experience and problem-solving skills to provide solutions to complex problems in a manner which meets both functional and security requirements.

 

Candidate tasks may include:• Responsible for the administration of: Computer systems hardware, network gear, software, information systems & peripheral equipment such as servers, desktops, zero clients, storage devices, and virtualization infrastructure. • Maintains, installs, upgrades and configures data systems (Windows/Linux/VMWare/SQL Server), administrates operating systems (Windows/Linux), and maintains basic security and recovery procedures such as performing patches and system backups. • Administration of infrastructure including but not limited to: servers, zero clients, malware protection software, HBSS, syslog servers, databases, etc. • Supervise & execute complex problem-solving to develop and improve processes requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices. • Upgrades systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and/or security issue resolution. • Authors and/or reviews configuration change requests and attends all configuration change review board meetings. • Identifies potential risks or inefficiencies associated with the configuration of the system and recommends appropriate mitigation strategies. • Ensures compliance with data security policies, relevant legal and regulatory requirements, and cyber security program implementation plans in accordance with directives and applicable RMF requirements. • Monitors system daily and responds rapidly to security or usability concerns. • Ability to read and understand server / systems logs and produce meaningful issue analysis. • Creates and verifies backups of data. • Work with key stakeholders in the Engineering and Analysis team to confirm that the system documentation reflects the current security configuration of the system, in terms of hardware and software components, data flow, interconnections, and ports, protocols, and services.• Provide ISSM cyber security reports, conduct scans and maintain system. • Ensure changes and improvement actions are documented and implemented as required. • Ensure compliance with protection requirements, control procedures, incident management reporting, remote access requirements, and system management for all systems under scope. • Provide network performance analysis and metrics.• Provide technical guidance and edits for the Team Standard Operating Procedures. • Manage PKI in an active directory environment. • Manage VM VCenter server and Security Server. • Ensure ACAS scanner can access, scan, and report results on all systems in the enclave. • Complete required Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) checklists. Develop and oversee technical strategies, roadmaps, and engineering plans.

Qualifications

Required Skills:• Must have experience working in a DoD IT environment.• 5+ years experience with a Master’s degree in a technical field, 8+ years experience with a bachelors degree in a technical field, or 12+ years experience.• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, experience with automation and orchestration tools. Excellent communication and documentation skills & ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.• VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) certification, preferable Desktop and Mobility.• CompTIA Security+ or DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification required, as well as a Linux Certification (Example: Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC)).

 

• Demonstrated expertise in the following Technical Skills:

1. Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI):- Proven experience in managing and administering hyperconverged infrastructure solutions2. VMware vCenter:- Proficiency in deploying, configuring, and managing VMware vCenter Server- Experience with vSphere environments and related technologies3. Dell VxRail:- Hands-on experience with Dell VxRail appliances and their management tools4. VMware vSAN:- Strong knowledge of vSAN architecture, implementation, and troubleshooting- Experience with storage policies and performance optimization5. Kubernetes:- Solid understanding of Kubernetes architecture and core concepts- Experience deploying and managing containerized applications in a Kubernetes environment6. Windows Server:- In-depth knowledge of Windows Server administration (specify versions if needed)- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and other core Windows services7. Linux Server:- Proficiency in Linux server administration (specify distributions if needed)- Command-line expertise and scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python)8. Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI):- Experience implementing and managing VDI solutions (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix)- Understanding of VDI best practices and performance optimization 12+ years’ experience in a technical field, with at least 4+ year experience leading teams of engineers & developers, with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

 

Desired Skills:• Certifications in VMWare (Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV), Data Center Virtualization (VCAP-DCV), Cloud Management and Automation (VCP-CMA)) or Dell VxRail. • Certifications in Kubernetes (Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)Assist in the development of tools and processes to include: development of tailored visualizations, user experience and interface updates, automation of manual workflows, multi-system integrations, and after-action review product creation.

 

Education Requirements:• Bachelor of Science required. Master’s degree desired.• Graduate of formal USAF/USN platform instructor course desired.• Experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.

 

Travel Requirements:Routine travel is expected. Candidates should anticipate one week per quarter, minimum. Non-traditional work hours will be required at pre-determined intervals for exercise support. Expectation is that work will be performed onsite. Occasional telework options may be available with approval from mission partner.

 

Clearance Requirements:Current Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain access to Special Access Required (SAR) Programs and Special Technical Operations (STO) required.

 

U.S. Citizenship is required.
