JOB MISSION:

The Director of Global Benefits will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, management, and optimization of benefits programs for employees across 40+ countries. This role will ensure that the organization’s global benefits strategy is aligned with business goals, complies with local regulations, and addresses the diverse needs of a multinational workforce. The Director will lead a team of benefits professionals and work closely with HR, finance, and external partners to deliver competitive, cost-effective, and legally compliant benefit offerings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/OBJECTIVES 

Global Benefits Strategy & Design:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive global benefits strategy that aligns with the company’s overall Total Rewards philosophy and supports employee well-being.
    • Design and manage competitive benefits offerings (healthcare, retirement, wellness, paid time off, life insurance, disability, etc.) across diverse regions, ensuring consistency where possible, while customizing for local market and cultural needs.
    • Ensure alignment of global benefits offerings with the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) objectives.

Program Management:

    • Oversee the day-to-day management of global benefits programs, ensuring that they meet the needs of employees, comply with local laws, and remain cost-effective.
    • Ensure seamless integration of benefits with the company’s HRIS, payroll, and other systems.
    • Regularly assess and benchmark benefits offerings against market standards and competitors to ensure competitiveness.

Compliance & Risk Management:

    • Oversee the day-to-day management of global benefits programs, ensuring that they meet the needs of employees, comply with local laws, and remain cost-effective.
    • Ensure seamless integration of benefits with the company’s HRIS, payroll, and other systems.
    • Regularly assess and benchmark benefits offerings against market standards and competitors to ensure competitiveness.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management:

    • Manage relationships with global benefits vendors, brokers, and third-party administrators, ensuring service levels, cost control, and program enhancements.
    • Collaborate with finance, HR, and legal teams to assess and control the financial impact of global benefits programs.
    • Lead the negotiation and renewal process for benefits contracts and agreements.

Communication & Employee Engagement:

    • Develop and implement a global benefits communication strategy, ensuring that employees across all regions are informed, engaged, and understand their benefits offerings.
    •  Design training programs and resources for HR teams, managers, and employees to promote benefits awareness and usage.

Data Analytics & Reporting:

    • Leverage data and analytics to monitor the performance of benefits programs, assess employee satisfaction, and make data-driven recommendations for improvements.
    • Regularly report on global benefits metrics, including utilization, costs, and ROI, to senior leadership.

Team Leadership & Development:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of global benefits professionals.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and ensure the team is equipped to handle the evolving needs of a global workforce.

Budgeting & Cost Management:

    • Develop and manage the global benefits budget, ensuring cost containment while maintaining the quality and competitiveness of benefits offerings.
    • Identify cost-effective strategies for delivering benefits without compromising employee satisfaction or compliance.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCES 

    • 10+ years of experience in global benefits management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Strong knowledge of global benefits laws and regulations in multiple countries, particularly in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
    • Experience managing benefits in a multi-national corporation across 40+ countries.
    • Expertise in designing, negotiating, and managing complex global benefits programs.
    • Proven track record of managing benefits budgets and optimizing cost-efficiency. 
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills. 
    • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels. 
    • Proficiency in benefits administration systems, HRIS platforms, and data analytics tools. 
    • Knowledge of global compensation and benefits trends, including health and wellness, pension programs, and non-traditional benefits.
    • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, global business environment.

OUTCOMES

  • Attain thorough working knowledge and usage of all People Team systems and processes related to People Services role
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify, prioritize, investigate and resolve all People Team inquiries globally
  • Play a key role in streamlining and unifying employee lifecycle processes with a global lens
  • Participate and develop into a lead role for various Workday enhancement initiatives that scale and automate People Services processes
  • Develop, maintain, and expand Knowledge Base Articles to support employee self-service for the organization
  • Identify and execute auditing opportunities to ensure compliance
