Position Purpose

We are seeking a Technical Counselor to advise, guide, and provide insights to information technology and information security leaders. The Security Technical Counselor will form deep, long-term, one-to-one relationships with the senior leaders in their portfolio, helping them address the struggles and challenges they face on their path to professional excellence. The main objective of the Technical Counselor service is to assist the CIO’s, CISO’s and other senior IT leaders by delivering improved results by optimizing their security practices, improving decision making, and mitigating cyber risk.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Technical Counselor services to 15-20 clients at any given time
  • Form a deep professional relationship with their clients, understanding their organizations, roles, teams, and stakeholders
  • Participate in unstructured value-based client conversations and create new methods for a client’s success
  • Provide confidential and professional advice to clients in-person and virtually
  • Deliver in-person and virtual experiences to their clients using Info-Tech methodologies
  • Create systematic improvement plans and roadmaps to incrementally mature the client’s security posture, platform, and operation.
  • Evaluate members’ needs and work with them to set objectives and develop a strategy/work plan within the terms and conditions of the members’ agreement
  • Leverage and provide oversight to other Info-Tech analysts to deliver on the specific goals within the members’ security strategies
  • Embrace Info-Tech Research Group culture of continuous learning by participating in on-going self and industry development activities
  • Provide proactive thought leadership and new ideas not “asked for” on behalf of the client’s membership
  • Participate in regular communication / support / education and participation with Sales Leadership and Account Directors to account planning and support efforts
  • Diagnose member value expectations pain points and connect them with appropriate Info-Tech Research Group product solutions
  • Build strong relationships with the clients’ peers and important stakeholders to provide experiences that are tailored to the clients’ objectives and organization.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of professional IT experiences, including leadership positions in information security, cybersecurity, or privacy.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in computer science, information security, or a related field
  • Expert knowledge in information security principles, strategy, and frameworks (such as NIST and ISO).
  • Excellent knowledge in the majority of the key security domains (i.e., governance, risk management, security operations, identity, and access management).
  • Practical skills and hands on experience in the information security space is required.
  • Strong relationship and trust-building skills
  • In depth understanding of modern information security roles, politics, human behavior, and predictive scenarios related to security leadership
  • Ability to coordinate complex service delivery models and respond to diverse needs of a variety of key-stakeholders
  • Exceptional customer service focus, high professionalism, and adherence to ethical principles of conduct
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, self-starter
  • Ability to adhere to members and Info-Tech Research Group core value as a trusted executive
  • Strong verbal, written, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Professional qualifications in this space such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC or similar are advantageous.
  • Travel Requirement: Must be flexible and have ability to travel frequently to deliver workshops onsite at client locations both within and outside of North America when it is safe to do so.
  • Visa Requirement: Must be eligible to obtain appropriate work Visa for cross-border work within North America and globally.

    Work Hours Requirements: Must be available for after-hours work periodically to service APAC clients.
