The Manager will be responsible for day-to-day management of their team including engaging across departments to embed digital-first practices, processes and tools. A strong collaborative working relationship with the leadership team across Digital Excellence in Health (DxH) as well across Ontario Health is essential. They are responsible for championing the portfolio's vision to re-imagine our digital and virtual assets to create a better, more connected healthcare system, along with evolving and encouraging a citizen-centered, digital-first mindset within their teams. As a leader they will ensure employees understand how their work contributes to Ontario Health’s broader organizational objectives, while also ensuring business partners have visibility to the value their teams provide.
They will manage the end-to-end customer value lifecycle in a consistent, collaborative, lean, agile and strategic manner, applying digital and technology to the products and services they support to improve the user experience and delivery of value to patients/customers. Providing management leadership to the team in the development of product strategy, design, delivery and ongoing support for one or more products and the ability to engage partners, including technical and operational partners, will be critical to leading product strategies and delivery of technical solutions for internal program partners, health care providers, patients and their care givers. As a results-driven individual, who works in close partnership with other teams and cultivates senior level relationships with program partners, while fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration and an agile delivery mindset.
They will bring innovative thought leadership and drive strategic change with measurable results to enhance the security posture and maturity of Ontario Health. They will possess expert knowledge of Business Domain specific to their area and expert knowledge of business domains in other product areas as well e.g. Architecture, IT Operations, Cloud, etc
Here is what you will be doing:
Assists with the development and identification of product synergies to ensure swift delivery across multiple product portfolios within the organization.
Provides technical expertise in their functional area to cross functional partners across DXH, other portfolios/Ontario Health and external partners and clients.
Effectively communicates security strategies, business and technical objectives, risks, requirements, and standards to diverse audiences, ensuring clarity and alignment across both technical and non-technical partners.
Brings a business mindset/acumen to enable program/business delivery while balancing security risks to ensure Ontario Health security posture is not compromised.
Leads cybersecurity initiatives and priorities in collaboration with the cybersecurity triad and other partners, effectively driving incremental enhancements to Ontario Health's cybersecurity posture amidst an increasingly complex and evolving threat landscape.
Lead a team of cyber security experts to conduct security risk assessments (e.g. Threat Risk Assessments, penetration testing, etc.) for Ontario Health’s digital products and services.
Bridges the gap between strategy and execution through road-mapping, setting up processes, models and metrics that facilitate collaboration between key partners and the achievement of set targets.
Champions the portfolio's vision to re-imagine our digital and virtual assets to create a better, more connected healthcare system, along with evolving and encouraging a person-centered, digital-first mindset within their teams.
Provides subject matter expertise on the use of digital and technology, as well as assisting with planning for long-term cost-effective sustainability.
Understands and discusses technical concepts, manages trade-offs, and evaluates opportunistic innovative ideas with internal and external partners
Leads by example, demonstrating integrity, creativity, and enthusiasm in achieving results directly.
Supports the development of the annual planning process in collaboration with program partners, DXH colleagues and the ministry.
Facilitates the development of product strategies in collaboration with program partners and DxH colleagues and the development of roadmaps and the corresponding operational plans for products within the department.
Provides thought leadership on capturing the tactical and strategic enterprise goals through business models (including vision, goals, objectives, mission, tactics, roadmaps, plans, capability maps, value stream maps) that provide traceability through the organization and are mapped to metrics that provide ongoing governance.
Ensures periodic reviews to ensure the products meet OH standards and practices.
Ensures privacy and security is embedded at every phase of the SDLC enabling development of secure products.
Demonstrates thought leadership to model and drive strategic change, leading and facilitating cross-functional ideation, innovation, and problem-solving, to drive the portfolio towards actionable insights.
Anticipates and remediates project bottlenecks and blockers in short term and long-term work to ensure smooth operation of their team.
Ensures business partners and stakeholders have visibility to the value their teams provide.
Works with HR, manages employee relations issues, promoting a teamwork environment where staff from diverse multilingual and multicultural backgrounds can interact productively and efficiently.
Supports other Managers as required and perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.
Builds strong relationships across portfolios and with a diverse set of health system stakeholders and partners.
Directs, trains, mentors and coaches transformation, customer value and product/service team members and functional experts to grow capabilities and key skills.
Provides excellent service to internal and external clients by discovering and meeting their needs and building and maintaining positive and effective working relationships.
Establishes and maintains trusted working relationships with cross-functional areas within Digital Excellence in Health and across Ontario Health, as well as external and vendor partners to ensure appropriate planning and support requirements are identified and managed ensuring service level targets are achieved.
Effectively partners with Ontario Health clinical portfolios to ensure program strategies and plans are reflected in technical product strategies and roadmaps.
Manages a functional team of 6 - 9 individuals and fosters a culture of teamwork, collaboration, agility and culture of engagement and high-performing teams that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison, organizational mission, vision, guiding principles, values, and strategies.
Provides full scope of leadership responsibilities to a multifunctional team, including recruitment, setting/measuring performance outcomes, career development/counseling, approval of leadership and training opportunities, and performance management. This includes effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and performance management with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary
Empowers staff to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegates responsibility and expects staff accountability and provides regular feedback.
Stays abreast of the evolving threat landscape and proactively collaborated with partners to implement measures to minimize security risks, ensuring the organization's cybersecurity posture remains resilient and adaptive.
Leads innovation in the security domain by exploring and implementing advanced techniques, tools, and operating models to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and adaptability in addressing emerging cybersecurity challenges.
Identifies and creates learning opportunities for their staff to continually enhance their functional area of knowledge.
Is expected to act independently with a minimal supervision. Possesses the ability to determine when to escalate broader impacting decisions to senior management.
Collaborates with external partners and government agencies.
Makes decisions where results have critical impact across the organization requiring sophisticated solutions and long-term correction
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Health-related fields, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
CISSP, CSPO, CSM, KMP, PMI, or ITIL certifications is considered an asset.
10+ years of experience in the functional area of expertise (Software Engineering, Quality Assurance, Security, etc.).
Minimum of 5 years in an IT/digital leadership role and previous management/people leadership experience
Advanced knowledge in the functional area of responsibility (engineering, security, product management, etc.).
In-depth knowledge of multiple agile methodologies and the capability to apply Shu and Ha level techniques.
Excellent Knowledge of project delivery practices in a matrix environment.
Excellent Knowledge of SDLC.
Experience with healthcare integration projects is considered an asset.
Knowledge of user centric design and innovation.
Ability to manage simultaneous projects from initiation to completion.
Expert Knowledge of Business Domain specific to their product area
Experience of familiarity with Cloud-Based technologies
