BWXT is currently seeking a Cyber Security Analyst for its Lynchburg, VA location!

 

The Cyber Security Analyst will implement and monitor security controls called out in the security plan and work with other corporate IT professionals to develop an appropriate security architecture, update existing security plan(s) or design alternative solutions.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and interprets contractual government requirements and supports implementation of those requirements. 
  • Reviews regulatory requirements documents, identifies gaps, and documents solutions to close gaps to meet due date commitments.
  • Works closely with other team members to supply associated artifacts, including risk assessments, Privacy Impact Assessments, vulnerability assessments, Plans of Action and Milestones POA&Ms, etc. for security control compliance.
  • Monitors security controls for information system resources to ensure compliance with the least privilege principle and develops methods to mitigate risk where necessary.
  • Leverages Cyber Security tools for monitoring of threats and risk levels.
  • Conducts cyber security reviews and tests to ensure that cyber security features and controls are functioning and effective.
  • Develops technical documentation describing the deployment, configuration, and management of shared, networked, and multi-user information security systems.
  • Serves as an active member of the Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) and participates in security incident response efforts by directing first responders to triage an event and performing advanced response actions for escalated events.
  • Maintains and collaborates on DLP technology, configures policies, and investigates anomalies. 
  • Collaborates with third-party vendors and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Responds to cyber incidents, including malware infections, and unauthorized access attempts.
  • Stays updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum six (6) years’ relevant experience.
  • Must possess a strong understanding of Cyber Security principles and threat detection methods.
  • Previous experience with Cyber Security Monitoring applications such as Security Information Event Monitoring, Network Access Control Solution, Data Loss Prevention Solutions, and etc. 
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q clearance.

 

 

Pay: $77,000 - $116,000

 

The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $77,000 and $116,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.

Position requires U.S. citizenship with (no dual citizenship) ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.
