Why this job matters

Maintaining BT’s cyber security against external threat actors is a constant challenge. You will lead a team delivering new cyber capabilities, using state of the art technologies, to provide the threat hunting teams with the tools they need to keep BT, its customers and the UK safe.

This role follows hybrid working (3 days in the office) in either Birmingham, Manchester or Ipswich

BPSS eligibility is advantageous 

What you’ll be doing

  • Accountable for setting the strategy and direction of the SIEM delivery team, in line with Secure Development and Interstellar programme goals.
  • Build and lead a high performing team of engineers capable of responding rapidly to the changing security landscape.
  • Be a leader within the Software Engineering community in Birmingham – driving collaboration and sharing of best practices.
  • Be an active member of the Secure Development senior team implementing the strategic direction of the unit. 

Skills Required for the Role

  • Leadership: strong skills in people leadership and building a high performance culture.
  • Delivery: a focus on delivering to customer expectations will be one of your key skills.
  • Stakeholder: the ability to build rapport and communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the business is a skill you will need.
     

Experience Required for the Role

Mandatory

  • Experienced manager (3 years+) of a software delivery team of 6+
  • Delivery management of software projects (3 years +)
  • Strong project governance (reporting, communications, risk management) skills

Preferred

  • SIEM or similar cyber security tool development
  • Elastic search design/development skills
  • Delivery of security tooling
  • Agile delivery
