Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 15+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 13 years of job-related experience.

 

Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

The role of Space and Embedded Cryptography (S&EC) Chief is a new Director role for SC&I.  The responsibilities include:

  • Lead the definition and implementation of technical activities that support the business strategy, including technology roadmap development and IR&D planning and execution.
  • Partner with Business Development in customer engagement to understand mission CONOPS and high-level requirements, and present candidate solutions aligned with GDMS capabilities.
  • Provide independent review and guidance to multi-disciplinary engineering teams at all stages of the system lifecycle, ensuring the delivery of technically sound solutions that meet schedule and cost commitments.
  • Collaborate with technical and business leads to solve difficult problems encountered during program execution or capture efforts.
  • Duties and Tasks:

    • Apply advanced principles of engineering and management to solve problems involving the development of complex technology, ensuring the success of SC&I’s S&EC LoB.
    • Oversee and manage design and development processes related to the engineering of Space Systems products, utilizing principles and technology of physics, mathematics, engineering, and related physical sciences.
    • Optimize all phases of work, including requirements management, modeling and simulation, risk analysis, and formal trade study tools.
    • Conduct research to identify leading-edge and breakthrough technologies.
    • Research and report important shifts in the technological landscape and their implications for the company.
    • Actively identify high-level risks, communicate the risk trade space, and develop mitigation strategies for the team.
    • Collaborate with management across the company on research and development relevant to long-term objectives.
    • Anticipate needs and concerns of the technical community and develop resolutions.
    • Use influence within the technical community to mitigate issues, including authoring trade studies and position papers.
    • Influence the development of technical opportunities leading to new business.
    • Take immediate and decisive action in addressing technical and performance issues.
    • Direct the development of technical and teaming strategies across divisions.
    • Lead large proposals, identifying cross-business unit strengths and technical shortcomings.
    • Provide proposal teaming recommendations to address shortcomings and optimize win probabilities.
    • Drive the development of business opportunities that can lead to new growth creation.
    • Mentor early-career engineers to foster growth in embeddable cryptology development careers.
    • Be well-versed in the NSA certification process and related USG requirements.

    • Ability to create an environment where the impact of technology on the business is clearly recognized.
    • Ability to drive products and programs that meet DTUPC and DTC goals.
    • Understanding of roles of NSA, SDA, NRO, Navy and AF in the development and fielding of high assurance security capabilities in tactical environments
    • Understanding of the radiation effects on electro-optic components associated with different orbits in space.

     

     

    Salary Note

    This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

    Combined Salary Range

    USD $214,472.00 - USD $237,929.00 /Yr.
