Summer Intern - IT Information Security (Hybrid)

While the majority of our employees are hybrid, the following classifications drive our current minimum onsite requirements:

• Hybrid People Leaders: must reside in AZ, required to be onsite at least once per week

• Hybrid Individual Contributors: must reside in AZ, unless otherwise cited within this posting, required to be onsite at least once per month

• Onsite: daily onsite requirement based on the essential functions of the job

• Remote: not held to onsite requirements, however, leadership can request presence onsite for business reasons including but not limited to staff meetings, one-on-ones, training, and team building

Please note that onsite requirements may change in the future, based on business need, and job responsibilities. Most employees should expect onsite requirements and at a minimum of once per month.

This internship requires work and residency in the state of Arizona.

What to Expect

As an IT Information Security Intern, you’ll work closely with our IT professionals to investigate, document, and report any actual or potential information security violations, incidents, breeches, or inappropriate computer use.

Pay: $18-$23

Hours: 20 – 40 hours per week (Depending on your school schedule. We’re flexible!)

Duration: 8-12 weeks

Location: Onboarding, training, and some projects will be located at our 8220 N 23rd Ave. office in Phoenix, Arizona. All other work to be performed remotely.

Throughout this Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona internship, you will:

• Learn the BCBSAZ business model, organization, and impact on the community. 
• Expand and develop knowledge through exposure to the roles on the IT Security team.
• Gain an understanding of advanced information security concepts, best practices and procedures.
• Evaluate security risk assessments of new systems and upgrades to determine impact to information security.  
• Research, analyze, track, and resolve basic IT problems.
• Respond to user requests for service, troubleshoot problems, and help develop solutions.
• Investigate, document, and report on information security issues and emerging trends.
• Coordinate and perform tests for modified and new systems.
• Perform audits of random users’ system access.
• Investigate, document, and report on information security issues and emerging trends.
• Assist/coordinate and perform tests for modified and new systems.

Qualifications

• Two years attendance at an accredited college pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in computer technology or related technical field.

• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Driver license with acceptable driving record
• Intermediate PC proficiency
• Ability to work across team boundaries to help secure the computer environment
