Northrop Grumman is seeking a Cyber Operator to work closely with Space Systems Command (SSC) to manage and sustain the cybersecurity posture of the globally dispersed NEXION and ISTO Ionospheric Ground Sensors (IGS). 

This position designs and implements information assurance and security engineering systems with requirements of business continuity, operations security, cryptography, forensics, regulatory compliance, internal counterespionage (insider threat detection and mitigation), and physical security analysis (including facilities analysis, and security management). Assesses and mitigates system security threats and risks throughout the program life cycle

This position will work with the Government Information System Security Manager (ISSM) to maintain Authority to Operate (ATO) approvals for various systems by adhering to the Risk Management Framework (RMF). This position supports cybersecurity efforts throughout the RMF process for one or more assigned programs(s) to include the enforcement of System Security Plans, Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), assessing and auditing systems security controls.

This position requires a working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The position’s knowledge will be used to work closely with the System Administrator to scan lab and field based systems with a Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS). Additionally, this position will help keep systems compliant by reviewing quarterly Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and providing updates to the ISSM and Systems Administrator for remediation.

The position will assist with opening network paths for new installations as well as troubleshooting networking issues at established sites. This position works directly with the Government customer on a frequent basis as well as numerous military entities, requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills.

This position will involve 10-20% travel to remote sites, to include foreign travel, so the ability to obtain a U.S. passport is required.

This position is based in-person at a facility in Colorado Springs, CO.

This position can be filled at level 1 or 2.

Basic Qualifications

Level 1:

  • Bachelors in Science (BS); or 4+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Security+ certification
  • Fundamental understanding of vulnerabilities scanning
  • Fundamental understanding of evaluating and implementing security controls
  • Fundamental understanding of operating systems and administration techniques
  • Ability to occasionally work after hours to support team members in the field.
  • Strong communications skills required

Level 2:

  • Bachelors in Science (BS) with 2+ years of relevant experience; OR Masters Degree (MS); 4+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Security+ certification
  • Fundamental understanding of vulnerabilities scanning
  • Fundamental understanding of evaluating and implementing security controls
  • Fundamental understanding of operating systems and administration techniques
  • Ability to occasionally work after hours to support team members in the field.

Salary Range: $67,300.00 - $100,900.00Salary Range 2: $73,900.00 - $110,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
