Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Sentinel program as the lead software requirements engineer for Command and Control. This leadership role can be located in Huntsville AL or Roy, UT.

What You Will Get to Do:
As a Senior Staff Software Requirements Engineer, you will be a pivotal leader in the Command and Control (C2) team for the Sentinel program. This role demands a high level of accountability and leadership, with responsibilities including:
• Technical Leadership: Lead the management of the C2 technical software requirements baseline across the entire portfolio, ensuring alignment with program goals and objectives.
• Mentorship: Guide and mentor software team members in agile software requirements development, fostering growth and expertise in critical defense program efforts.
• Execution and Collaboration: Drive technical execution in support of major program events, collaborating within and across the Division SDS program portfolio to deliver exceptional customer value.
• Systems Challenges: Focus on resolving high-level systems challenges, ensuring the execution of the overall technical plan within the Integrated Master Schedule.
• Strategic Initiatives: Support strategic SDS Division initiatives on tools, processes, and cross-segment technical reviews, driving technical rigor into technical interchange meetings with C2 partners.
• Model-Based Engineering: Utilize Model-Based Engineering to deliver a highly sustainable Weapon System, advising the C2 program office on program, schedule, and technical matters.

This position requires a leader who is accountable to the team, customer, program management, and executive leadership. The ideal candidate will embody servant leadership, putting the team's needs first while maintaining focus on achieving program objectives.


Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Science with 14 years of experience; or Master's degree with 12 years of experience; or PhD with 10 years of experience
• Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
• Current understanding of software engineering best practices
• 14+ years of experience in software engineering, system design, software requirements, and test
• 14+ years of experience delivering SW products for IFC Certification
• Ability to team plan, execute, and manage the technical scope, and support leadership planning.
• 14+ years of experience with Agile and working in a cross-function Scrum team.
• 14+ years of experience with Software Safety (Mil-STD882E)
• 14+ years of experience with USAF Nuclear Surety (AFMAN91-119) and/or Cyber Certification
• 14+ years of experience integrating multiple engineering specialties and stakeholders across multiple Integrated Product Teams and Suppliers
• 14+ years of experience leading requirements, design, and integration of complex systems
• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
• 14+ years of experience leading the performance of technical tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as technical lead
• Able to create plans and standards for architecture, requirements, and design that can address selection process that accounts for providing safe, fault tolerant, and deterministic operation for critical functions. Critical functions are those functions that perform/support SCF/Critical signal trace threads.
• Establish a Software Requirements Peer Review Process that includes identification of all artifacts required for peer review.
• Able to create system, hardware and software verification plans to address complete functional validation as describe by the software requirements specification


Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with ESM-1902
• Prior experience interfacing with prime contractor site leads and USAF leadership personnel
• Demonstrated effectiveness in achieving results through managing people and understanding and management of internal processes and customer/supplier relationships.
• Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, labs, facilities, software, etc.)
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities
• Experience in working closely with customers to ensure delivery of systems that meet warfighter needs
• Ability to collaborate and achieve consensus when dealing with groups from diverse organizations and backgrounds
• Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations
• Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner
• Demonstrated experience with industrial or government development projects
• Current CISSP Certification or Security + Certification

Salary Range: $179,600.00 - $269,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
