The Role
 

Proofpoint’s Security Products Group is looking for a thriving engineer to work on designing, building, and deploying large-scale threat detection platform.

Our team develops the next generation distributed pipeline to detect, analyze and produce intelligence for the latest cyberattacks from sophisticated threat actors. Our detection services are the foundational components which are leveraged across Proofpoint’s cybersecurity product offerings to protect our customers from threats delivered through email, social media, and SaaS applications.

We are a fast-paced, high-energy team where you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact. Our team values a strong engineering culture that emphasizes the craftsmanship of writing maintainable code, continuous learning, and solving big problems. Engineers on our team work across the software stack to address challenges related to scalability, reliability, and testability.

Your day-to-day

• Be an integral member of our engineering team responsible for building critical threat-hunting and detection services.

• Take end-to-end responsibility for implementation, deployment, and onboarding of new features and services

• Write code and integrate open-source technologies as needed to solve complex challenges

• Help define processes and build tools as needed to scale the team’s capacity

• Contribute innovative ideas to stay ahead of threat actors and continuously improve the engineering team

• Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, threat analysts, product managers and other engineers to deliver projects

What you bring to the team

• Extensive experience building compute-intensive and high-volume services

• Proven hands on Java development experience within a collaborative engineering team

• Coding experience with both OO and scripting languages (Java, Go, Python)

• Motivation and growth mindset to learn new technologies and domains

• A positive, can-do attitude and a passion for excellence in the workplace

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills

Nice to Have

• BSc degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

• Knowledge of cybersecurity domain, threat detection engineering or malware sandboxing are a bonus
