Join Serco’s UK & Europe division as an Information Security Manager and support the execution of high complexity, high risk and critical IT workstreams by studying and understanding business requirements, identifying gaps between business requirements and current IT capabilities, defining solutions to bridge the gap, and making sure that the project scope is maintained, and solutions implemented in line with the overall strategy and architecture.

 

In this pivotal role, you must also understand not just the IT needs of the business but also the overall impact of proposed solutions to the profitability of the business. You’ll maximize the value of the tooling in your specific domain of expertise and will have strong credibility in this space to be a specialist in at least two or three technology disciplines whilst maintaining a vast knowledge of current and emerging IT technologies.

 

You’ll be accountable for all areas relating to security strategy, technology choice and assists implementation and operational teams in managing their projects and ongoing services. As well as being responsible for the security of all systems, personnel and sites deployed in support of the contract, and for positioning the contract to operate in accordance with Secure by Design requirements.

Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Liaise with the Digital Solution team, Divisional IT Enterprise Architect team to understand security needs and alignment with Serco security.
  • Ensure compliance to strategy and solution architectural design in the implementation of projects.
  • Provide architectural guidance and Leadership to the IT Senior/Solution Architects and Technical Delivery teams to ensure delivery is in line with the sector roadmap designs.
  • Provide Delivery execution guidance to the delivery team, supporting the design governance of the workstream breakdown.
  • Render consulting and technical support services on project implementation to the IT Senior/Solution Architects and Technical Delivery teams.
  • Explain technical issues and IT solution strategies to Business Unit stakeholders and other IT professionals as required in support of solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a technology and service roadmap for their domain, working with Business Stakeholders and the DDaT Leadership team to ensure this is maintained, current and meets future capability needs.
  • Guide the activities of Solution Design within their responsible technology domain for solutions to ensure timely completion of Technical Delivery projects.
  • Ensure that solution designs are in sync and aligned with strategy, business needs and support Sector Roadmaps.
  • Review the proposal of vendors and suppliers to ensure that quality inputs are deliverable, aligned to Sector Roadmaps and compliant with Enterprise Architecture standards.
  • Maintains the Security architecture of all systems used in the security technology areas in sufficient detail to support ongoing design work.

 

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT related discipline is expected but not mandatory. A thorough understanding of modern IT Infrastructure, applications and Cloud based technologies is essential.
  • Understanding of Secure by Design principles and MOD security policies and requirements (e.g., JSP 440, JSP 604, DEFCON 658).
  • Good at thinking up innovative ideas and solutions to problems.
  • Possesses effective communication skills to convey complex technical details to clients in a straightforward manner.
  • A strong background in security architectures, processes and both industry and government compliances e.g. ISO27001, CES, CES+.
  • A strong background in Microsoft, AWS and/or Cloudflare security technology would be beneficial.
  • Must be innovative and should be up to date with current technologies.
  • Ability to identify technical issues and design solutions to fix them. Most importantly, you should be flexible in making plans and program decisions.
  • Ability to build from good relationships with clients, operational managers, and colleagues.
  • Good knowledge of security standards, legislation, and best practice
  • Must be able to achieve SC clearance upon appointment.
