Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Industrial Security Analyst to join our team of high performing, diverse individuals. This position will be located at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB), CA with travel to Santa Maria, CA and will be the Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO) and Alternate Contractor Special Access Program Security Officer (ACSSO). This position will be supporting the Strategic Deterrent System (SDS) Division.

Roles Responsibilities:

Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO) is responsible for the security of a company's or government organization's facilities. Their duties include:

  • Security program: Implementing and maintaining a security program that complies with NISPOM requirements
  • Personnel security: Assisting employees with obtaining and maintaining personnel security clearances (PCLs)
  • Security education: Providing security training, education, and awareness
  • Classified information: Safeguarding classified information and overseeing classified visits
  • Security protocols: Coordinating with upper management to develop security protocols
  • Access requests: Reviewing access requests for sensitive data
  • Security operations: Performing security operations, including processing, tracking, and reporting personnel clearances
  • Security badges: Processing badges, visit requests, and certifications for government facilities
  • Security plans: Creating and updating security plans, procedures, and instructions
  • Security inspections: Performing periodic self-inspections
  • Security events: Reporting certain types of events back to the government
  • Security liaison: Serving as a liaison between the company and the government
  • Security briefings: Conducting security briefings and debriefings

Alternate Contractor Special Access Program Security Officer (ACSSO) is responsible for the security of classified and proprietary materials, documents, and equipment. Their duties include:

  • Physical security: Maintaining the program's access control system and developing checklists for classified work areas
  • Security education and training: Establishing and ensuring compliance with the Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA) program
  • Conducting briefings: Conducting briefings on reporting requirements and security incidents
  • Maintaining documentation: Maintaining administrative security documentation
  • Assisting with program protection plans: Assisting the customer in developing Program Protection Plans
  • Initiating plans and projects: Initiating plans and projects to meet project goals

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree with 8 years of related experience, or Masters with 6 years of related experience, or 4 years with a PhD (an additional 4 years may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope with a background investigation date within 10 years.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Working Knowledge of DoD SAP Manuals and the 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
  • Meticulous record-keeping and responsible for accurate data input into multiple databases/spreadsheets.
  • Excellent writing skills, and organizational skills enabling effective communications.
  • Computer and desktop Microsoft office software products experience

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: 

  • Familiarity with Security Information Management System (SIMS) or related software, JPAS/DISS, JADE, Lenel badging software, etc.
  • Prior Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO) experience, to include experience with SAP inspections and a record of Satisfactory compliance ratings
  • Experience leading small teams
  • Current CDSE FSO Certification for processing facilities or ability to obtain

Salary Range: $113,500.00 - $170,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
