Your Mission
As a Cyber Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in assessing and validating cyber capabilities through hands-on penetration testing, vulnerability analysis, and proof-of-concept evaluations. You will work with prototype and exemplar systems, identifying security weaknesses and validating exploit techniques to strengthen cybersecurity defenses.

  • Skilled in penetration testing, exploit development, and vulnerability assessment.
  • Passionate about offensive cybersecurity operations and continuously researching emerging threats.
  • Proficient in network security protocols, malware analysis, and cyber network operations.
  • An effective communicator who can document findings and collaborate with stakeholders.

A Day in the Life:

  • Conduct penetration testing and exploit validation on exemplar systems and networks.
  • Identify and assess weaknesses in cyber capabilities using both tools and manual testing.
  • Deploy and evaluate proof-of-concept (PoC) exploits to validate vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in remediation and risk mitigation.
  • Develop and implement test plans and security assessments.
  • Research emerging threats, attack vectors, and evolving cyber tools and techniques.
  • Document technical findings and provide detailed security assessment reports.
  • Mentor and train junior cybersecurity staff in offensive security methodologies.

Must Have:

  • TS/SCI with polygraph clearance.
  • 10+ years of experience in software analysis, exploit development, or cybersecurity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong understanding of malware techniques, including code injection, rootkits, privilege escalation, and anti-analysis tactics.
  • Knowledge of malware types (viruses, worms, ransomware, trojans) and their attack vectors.
  • Expertise in network security, penetration testing, and exploit development.
  • Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP) and security tools like Wireshark, Metasploit, and tcpdump.
  • Strong understanding of Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems.
  • Experience with virtualization and sandbox environments for dynamic malware analysis.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with automated vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys).
  • Knowledge of Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) techniques and tactics.
  • Hands-on experience securing cloud environments.
  • Exposure to DevSecOps or agile development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with command-and-control (C2) techniques used by malware.
  • Cybersecurity certifications such as OSCP, GREM, CEH, or similar.
