The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

1What Is the Opportunity?
Travelers is seeking an experienced encryption specialist to join our Data Security team, driving the development and enforcement of encryption best practices, policies and standards across the organization. This individual will partner closely with Architecture and Security Engineering to guide the adoption of encryption technologies across the enterprise infrastructure and systems. This individual should have encryption experience with hybrid environments, integrating encryption practices across on premise and cloud solutions and expertise in encryption protocols, standards and technologies (e.g., AES RSA, TLS/SSL, PKI, disk encryption, data masking). This person is a proactive self-starter who takes initiative to drive work forward, with strong analytical and communication skills.What Will You Do
- Ensure full encryption of enterprise devices, databases and communication channels at rest and in transit.
- Develop, document and enforce encryption guidelines, standards and policies to ensure consistent and secure practices across the enterprise.
- Serve as the encryption SME on the Data Security team, providing guidance and consulting to developers and business units.
- Collaborate with Cybersecurity Architects to integrate encryption into new and existing workflows and establish encryption requirements for third party vendors, partners and cloud services.
- Ensure enterprise encryption practices meet regulatory requirements and organizational security policies.
- Perform regular reviews and audits of encryption identifying gaps and mitigation plans.
- Evaluate and recommend new encryption solutions and strategies to strengthen enterprise data protection capabilities.
- Stay current with evolving encryption technologies and regulatory requirements.
- Engage challenges thoughtfully, prioritizing understanding.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline preferred.
- Seven years of relevant experience with Cybersecurity practices, processes, and Cybersecurity event investigation/resolution preferred.
- Broad knowledge of all IT related technologies with subject matter expertise in IT Security related technology and business exposures impacting organizational vitality preferred.

- Knows where to obtain information needed to make the appropriate decisions.

- Develops operational plans and provides resource estimation for task planning.
- Proposes plans of action that are timely, realistic, and positive.
- Sets appropriate goals for projects and monitors progress against the plan.
What is a Must Have?
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Five years of work experience within Computer Science or a related field required.
