The Network Sector Coverage (NSC) team is part of ING Wholesale Banking. The team is based in Amsterdam and operates as the first point of contact for Dutch companies when there is also a global relationship with corporate headquarters. The NSC bankers are responsible for developing strategic relationships with these subsidiaries. They position ING well for future opportunities and proactively support new strategic NSC business origination, all within the parameters of the WB segmentation strategy. The team also coordinates between various products, so that the clients’ needs are met. Customer experience is what differentiates us, and ING is continuously innovating to improve it.

Your internship

The companies we cover are related to various sectors ranging from retail to industrial companies. As a Relationship Management Intern, you will support and work together with the Relationship Management team to broaden your knowledge and experience in banking products and processes. You will be helping the bank to remain compliant and assisting corporate clients to ease the on/offboarding of their products. You work most closely together with members of different teams in Amsterdam as well as with ING colleagues all over the world. Lastly, as we have offices in different countries, you will come across a variety of colleagues.

Your activities are wide and varied, and your main responsibilities include:

  • Close collaboration with Relationship Managers;
  • Assisting in new clients onboardings, obtaining relevant gatekeeper approvals, and ensuring proper client data capture in relevant internal client systems;
  • Supporting the Relationship Managers in their daily commercial activities;
  • Assessing the relationship from a commercial perspective: performing commercial assessment, collecting and analysing information about customers and markets in which customers are active;
  • Backing up the NSC Projects such as identifying new clients, and/or expanding corporate relationships through company research;
  • Maintaining contact with both internal and external stakeholders and correctly implementing the agreements made;
  • Managing, monitoring, and promoting the quality of the commercial and operational services;
  • Taking care of the administrative handling of processes, and you are intensively involved in updating ING systems.

You are:

  • A quick learner
  • Well-organised / accurate
  • Energetic with a proactive attitude
  • Enrolled in a (HBO or University) Bachelor‘s degree, preferably with an Economic, Business, Finance, Accounting, or similar domain specialisation.
  • A reliable team player who is highly motivated and eager to learn
  • Able to operate in a fast-paced work environment while still maintaining structure
  • A proactive approach, especially in a (part) working from home environment
  • A communicator who can demonstrate and convey information clearly and effectively
  • Available from 1 April 2025 or 1 July 2025 for 6 months
