Application Security Systems Analyst

A staff position in the Information Technology organization serving as a liaison and IT relationship manager to one or more business units. The Application Security Systems Analyst understands the business processes they support as well as the technology behind it. The position is responsible for identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives that drive security efficiency and value back into the business. They will work with business to:

• Understand end-user security role concepts.
• Gather requirements and design solutions.
• Advise or administrate application security to fulfill designed solution.
• Work with 3rd Party consultants.
• Coordinate testing of application changes
• Create/update documentation and train/support the business.

They are also responsible for participating in projects to implement work efforts by completing their tasks and applying project management principles to keep tasks on track and contribute to the overall success of the project.

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Strong process documentation skills and knowledge of tools such as Visio
• 2 - 3 years' experience in the below activities:
  
  • IT or related business function. Experience with a variety of application and infrastructure security structures, concepts, and controls.
  • Ability to apply best-practice security principles and concepts at an enterprise level.
  • Applying project management principles to organize, track, and complete tasks you are responsible for according to plan.
  • Experience with internal and external audit requests for IT security controls.
  • Documenting business and IT security related processes through interviews to create understanding and clarity.

• Adhere to established IT governance process to engage resources and prioritize work.
• Document business and IT processes using appropriate methods and tools.
• Participate in the requirements gathering sessions, analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of assigned systems and/or projects, which may include hands on administration as well as interacting with other security resources or administrators.
• Work with internal IT teams to understand overall enterprise security posture and tools utilized.
• Work with federal and local governing and regulatory bodies on security related compliance and requests.
• Participate in on-going education and training to stay informed of the latest systems functionality and apply knowledge to resolve business issues.
• Utilize project management principles to execute assigned tasks.
• Communicate with the business and IT team members as they work implementing projects and enhancements.
• Expand upon understanding of security and working with the key people that make decisions to develop the reputation as a trusted partner.
• Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned.
