The Opportunity

The Principal DevSecOps Engineer will support the design, implementation, and optimization of secure, scalable, and automated cloud software. This role is critical in driving the integration of security into the development and operations processes, ensuring that our systems and applications remain resilient, compliant, and high-performing. The Principal DevSecOps Engineer will serve as a technical authority, mentor, and innovator, collaborating with engineering teams to promote best practices and align strategies with organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop the infrastructure to run the platform and associated internal products

• Provision of the infrastructure for clients

• Supporting engineering and data science staff with ci/cd

• Supporting architecture design and product viability

• Stay up to date with infrastructure and automation technologies

• Foresee infrastructure security concerns to protect customer data

• Contribute to the security architecture of the platform.

• Build with monitoring and observability in mind

• Support less experienced colleagues in career development

• Document solutions that are well designed and implemented

• Supporting with ISO27001 compliance
  
  

Qualifications, skills and attributes

You will work with a variety of technologies including:

• Hashicorp Nomad / Consul / Vault for service orchestration, service discovery and secrets management, to form abstracted datacenters and enable the concept of immutable infrastructure.

• Hashicorp Terraform to declare, manage, deploy, and automate our Infrastructure as Code.

• Bash for simple and Python for slightly sophisticated scripting. Python/Go Lambdas to tie the automation fabric together.

• Deep AWS experience and Kubernetes on Azure.

• TeamCity and Github Actions to take infrastructure automation to the next level.

• S3, Cassandra, Elasticsearch and PostgreSQL as the main data stores.

• FlatCar Linux is the operating system where the infrastructure is immutable. CentOS where the approach does not work (such as huge databases).
  Kafka and streaming technologies.

• Passionate about Dev Sec Ops and collaborating with technical decision makers.

• Enjoy learning new technologies.

Experience

• 7+ years of experience in a DevOps / Operations / Systems Engineer role.
• 5+ years experience as Linux administrator.
• 5+ years experience as AWS administrator.
• 2+ years experience writing infrastructure as a code with Terraform.
• Experience with orchestration solutions (Nomad, k8s, OpenShift) is a plus
• The ability to work on your own initiative and drive improvements is key.
• Contribute to and make steady progress on tasks within the area.
• Be able to ship results regularly, with guidance and oversight.
• Collaborate directly with peers on the team.
• Be self-directed in your learning process.
• Know when to ask for help when getting stuck.
