Job Description Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our software development team specializing in high-value cryptography. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in golang and Java, with familiarity in transitioning from legacy C++ systems. This role involves providing technical guidance, managing project timelines, and fostering a collaborative team environment to ensure the delivery of secure and efficientundefinedographic solutions. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as a deep understanding of cryptographic principles and secure coding practices. Job Description:

The PayPal Cryptography engineering team is committed to safeguarding our customers' secrets through cutting-edge cryptographic solutions. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Engineering Manager to lead a software development team, which focuses on high-value secrets. Join us in our mission to protect sensitive information and ensure the highest standards of security.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and manage a team of talented software engineers who are responsible for developing and maintaining our cryptographic systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our solutions meet the highest standards of security and performance. Your technical expertise in GoLang, Java, and experience with legacy C++ systems will be crucial in guiding the team through development and transition phases.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  • Define team goals, strategy, and deliverables in alignment with company objectives.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.

Technical Guidance:

  • Provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, and maintenance of cryptographic solutions. -
  • Oversee the transition from legacy C++ systems to modern tech stacks (golang and Java).
  • Ensure code quality, security, and performance through code reviews and best practices.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in cryptography.

Project Management:

  • Plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and tasks effectively.
  • Collaborate with product managers, security experts, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables.
  • Track project progress and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.

Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and executives.
  • Present technical concepts and project updates to non-technical audiences.
  • Foster a culture of open communication and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in software development with a focus on cryptography.
  • Experience (2+ years) in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong proficiency in Golang or Java.
  • Familiarity with legacy C++ systems and experience in transitioning to modern tech stacks.
  • Deep understanding of cryptographic principles, protocols, and algorithms.
  • Experience with secure coding practices and threat modeling.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud platforms and microservices architecture.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to cryptography and data security. - Contributions to open-source cryptographic projects or communities.
