Cyber Threat Analyst

Key Role:

Support a Defense client and participate as a team member performing threat analyses based on knowledge of cybersecurity and concepts supporting intelligence analysis requirements for all-source cyber analysis and reporting. Contribute to the development of analytical threat models and provide functional guidance and direction to threat studies team in overall conduct of projects. Support the team performing expert-level research and analysis of intelligence and related data support of threat studies. Uses Jira to track analysis tasks and communicate status. Uses Analyst1 and Kibana to ingest, manage, and fuse multiple intelligence streams and perform analysis. Leverage tools such as Kibana, Virus Total, or Recorded Future, to obtain, fuse, and analyze cyber threat intelligence. Leverage research tools and sources to conduct fusion analysis, perform queries, pivot on indicators, and research malware characteristics such as Message-Digest Algorithm 5 (MD5), Secure Hash Algorithm 1 (SHA1), file size, file name, and file paths. Perform work activities under general guideline and direction. Provide advice, guidance, and direction to the threat studies team. Prepare, submit, and present reports and issue papers to customer representatives.

Basic Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience conducting in-depth research in classified and commercial databases and producing written products across various types of cyber threat activity and vulnerabilities
• Experience with VirusTotal, Domain Tools, Shodan, Censys, Recorded Future, or Analyst1
• Experience conducting open-source research on cyber threat activity, writing all-source intelligence products, and briefing information to decision-makers and leaders
• Experience with SIEM technologies and Department of Defense cyber operations
• Knowledge of emerging cyber adversaries and their techniques, tactics, and procedures (TTPs)
• Knowledge of cybersecurity technology, advanced threat analysis technology in areas such as telecommunications, computer science, and electronic warfare, and threat modeling and adversary tactics and techniques frameworks, including MITRE ATT&CK matrices, Cyber Kill Chain, and Diamond Model
• Knowledge of Department of Defense and service level intelligence communities, including collection methods, production resources, and responsibilities
• Ability to supervise the handling or classified information, and convey technical data to non-technical levels of management to inform senior decision-makers
• Secret clearance
• Bachelor's degree

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience with cybersecurity consulting
• Experience conducting network traffic analysis using NetFlow
• Experience with Jira and Confluence
• Possession of excellent organizational skills, including updating tracking mechanisms, compiling analytic reports, and responding to tasks
• Possession of excellent detail-oriented skills, with a focus on accuracy and precision in analytical products
• TS/SCI clearance
• Master's degree
• Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CISSP, GCTI, or similar Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
