e-Zinc is now looking to expand its talented team to bring its technology to market to support the renewable energy transformation.
Opportunity
e-Zinc is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Reliability Test Engineer to join our team. This role is critical to ensure the reliability of our long duration zinc-air battery. The Reliability Test Engineer will review the design, product duty cycle & operating conditions, and design tests that will demonstrate the reliability of the product.
Key Responsibilities
- Review product design (3D CAD, 2D drawing, DFMEA, fault-tree analysis) and recommend changes to the design based on reliability engineering principles.
- Design product validation tests for reliability based on reviews of the product design, intended application, duty cycle, and the operating environment.
- Execute and/or coordinate validation tests on a long-duration battery and its electro-mechanical auxiliary systems. Gather relevant data, report the results, and summarize in DVP&R.
- Lead root cause & problem-solving activities on test failures by using structured problem-solving methods (e.g. 8D, Red-X, Six Sigma) from the problem definition stage to implementation of the permanent countermeasure implementation, and monitoring for countermeasure effectiveness.
- Design HALT, ALT, HASS, Ongoing reliability Testing and FAT that are appropriate for our technology (you will have access to external experts).
Qualifications
- 7+ years of demonstrated experience in the key responsibilities listed above in a high-volume & high-reliability industry.
- Worked for an IATF 16949 certified organization and understand how the standard governs an organization.
- Familiarity with UL standards would be an asset.
- Hands-on experience with test equipment, data acquisition systems, battery testers like Arbin, and BMS HIL testers.
- Proficient in data analysis using tools such as Origin, R, Minitab.
- Experience in testing battery packs, automotive or high reliability and high-volume industry segments.
- Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing test data using tools such as MATLAB, Python, R, Minitab, or other software.
- Structured problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience in applying methodologies like 8D, Six Sigma, or similar.
- Understanding and practical application experience of HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing), ALT (Accelerated Life Testing), HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screening), and FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and how they relate to each other.
- Experience working with corrosive or otherwise hazardous chemicals.
- Experience operating under IATF 16949 and understanding how it governs the rigorous process and documentation requirements.
