Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Sr. FME Software Reverse Engineer to join our team! The ideal candidate will have a background in Electrical Engineering with hands-on experience in both embedded software and embedded hardware systems. This role requires a deep understanding of specialized hardware/software integration, the software development process, and a solid grasp of assembly languages (such as x86, ARM, DSPs). The successful candidate will be proficient with reverse engineering tools like IDA Pro, Ghidra, and OllyDbg, as well as programming languages such as C, C++, and Python. This position is critical for analyzing and exploiting foreign materiel, and candidates should be prepared to work on complex systems with a high level of technical sophistication.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Reverse Engineering: Analyze and reverse-engineer foreign embedded software and firmware to identify vulnerabilities, functionality, and exploit potential.

  • Specialized Hardware Interaction: Work closely with embedded hardware to understand system design and interface with custom hardware components.

  • Software Development & Debugging: Participate in the software development lifecycle, including debugging, patching, and enhancing embedded software-based systems.

  • Assembly Language Proficiency: Work extensively with assembly languages (x86, ARM, DSPs) to understand low-level software behavior and uncover security flaws.

  • Tool Utilization: Leverage advanced reverse engineering tools such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, OllyDbg, and other industry-standard platforms for disassembling and analyzing software.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Document findings, write detailed reports, and communicate technical analysis to internal stakeholders or government entities.

  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams including engineers, analysts, and project managers to identify and mitigate software vulnerabilities and other security risks.

Required Clearance:

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen

  • Candidate must possess an ACTIVE SECRET clearance AND be willing and able to obtain/maintain a DoD TS/SCI with CI polygraph security clearance

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline, and 10+ years of experience

  • Embedded Software & Hardware Experience: Strong experience in embedded systems design, debugging, and reverse engineering. Proficiency in analyzing hardware/software interactions for a variety of platforms (e.g., x86, ARM, DSP-based systems).

  • Assembly Language Knowledge: Extensive experience with x86, ARM, and DSP assembly languages for reverse engineering and low-level debugging.

  • Reverse Engineering Tools: Proficiency in IDA Pro, Ghidra, OllyDbg, or other industry-standard reverse engineering tools.

  • Programming Skills: Experience with C, C++, and Python for script writing, debugging, and automation of reverse engineering tasks.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • DoD TS/SCI with CI polygraph security clearance

  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), firmware analysis, and hardware/software co-design.

  • Familiarity with hardware debugging tools such as JTAG, Oscilloscopes, and Logic Analyzers.

  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including version control, debugging practices, and the integration of embedded systems.

Salary Range: 

$140,700.00 - $253,300.00
