At DEN, the Government Affairs & Global Public Policy Division (GAGPP) serves as a trusted Senior Leadership partner and provides holistic subject matter expertise, coordination, and collaboration enterprise-wide, including: focusing on multi-sector stakeholders and government officials to advance global strategy and innovation priorities; formulating and communicating on policy matters at all levels (International, Federal, State, Regional, Local); leading the City Council Approval Process; managing memberships & sponsorships; managing state & federal lobbying contracts; managing Colorado Open Records Act compliance; and advising the CEO and Senior Leadership on trends, risks, and opportunities for DEN’s strategy and future growth.
What We Offer
The City and County of Denver (CCD) offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The full salary range for this position is $67,161.00 - $110,816.00. However, our target hiring range is between $68,000.00 - $94,900.00 a year commensurate with education and experience.

Location
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days. In this position you can expect to work on site at DEN or in the field three days per week.
What You’ll Do
The GAGPP Team is currently hiring for a Compliance & Policy Associate.
In this role, your primary responsibilities will be to assist in ensuring DEN’s compliance with the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) and to optimize administrative and operational functionality of the CORA team.
You will be part of a nimble, dynamic, and service-focused team, led by the Vice President (VP) of GAGPP.
Core duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
Exercise sound judgment and build strong trustworthy working relationships with GAGPP teammates and across the DEN enterprise to advance the work of the division.
Work closely with the Public Records Administrator to fulfill public records requests and enhance all aspects of DEN’s CORA Team, including stakeholder communications; technology solutions; training; consultation, collaboration, and coordination with DEN Legal and DEN Global Communications division; CCD-wide CORA Collaborative; and enterprise-wide efforts toward CORA process improvements at DEN.
Work with GAGPP teammates to ensure fiscal compliance on all manner of division work.
Provide support for GAGPP priority programs, projects, research and data analyses, and preparation and provision of multi-sector stakeholder tours as needed.
Apply emotional intelligence principles when assisting with sensitive stakeholder matters.
Contribute to GAGPP creative problem solving, thought leadership, strategic vision, and innovation, including conducting periodic assessments of Compliance & Policy Associate duties effectiveness and opportunities to adapt.
Proactively seek and implement feedback and opportunities for professional development and growth.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field.
Worked within a government entity, airport/regulated industry, or other complex organization.
Experience working on public records/CORA/Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) compliance and technology tools.
Forging trustworthy relationships at all professional levels and executing responsibilities in a service-oriented, discrete manner.
An understanding of DEN/City & County of Denver stakeholders is a plus.
Proven ability to anticipate and meet deadlines; manage information in a variety of formats and degrees of sensitivity; coordinate with subject matter experts related to compliance issues; and prepare correspondence and other forms of informational materials for communication and dissemination.
Commitment to individual accountability and fostering a values-driven culture of kind, respectful collaboration, cooperation, and innovation across a small, but mighty team.
Exceptional comprehension and interpersonal skills, including active listening and strong written, verbal, and nonverbal communication.

High degree of cultural competency, including contributing to engagement strategies that resonate with diverse populations, promote inclusivity, and address equity considerations.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of professional level experience performing communications, marketing, and/or public relations.
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
