In keeping with our culture of safety first, reporting to the Manager of Cyber Security Programs and Governance, the Cyber Security Specialist will assist in providing support and coordination in areas of Cyber Security Awareness and Training Campaigns, Incident Response, Reporting and Policies.Job Description

Key Accountabilities:
Performs monitoring, research, and analysis of cyber security threats and alerts to determine relevancy and urgency, initiating incident response processes when required.
Monitors network, systems, and applications for malicious activity, responding to detected or reported cyber security incidents following defined procedures; escalates to other groups or senior resources as required.
Reviews and collects data from security systems for further investigation.
Enforces NAV CANADA’s cyber security policies and standards as well as assists in the development of new cyber security requirements.
Develops and documents procedures for responding to common cyber security incidents.
Generates metrics on the status of the cyber threat and the performance of the Security Incident and Event Monitoring program.
Engages with other Technology teams while leading small projects related to the improvement of NAV CANADA’s cyber security posture.
Collaborates with peers and external partners for the betterment of information sharing amongst various external cyber security groups.
Works jointly with training teams on the development of annual mandatory training material for all NAV CANADA employees.
Job Requirements
Education:
Graduation with an acceptable degree from a recognized university or community college with a specialization in computer sciences, systems engineering, or data analytics.
Experience:
5 years of professional experience in Information Technology or Data Analytics, with some background in Information Systems Security.
Hands-on experience using information technology operational solutions such as Active Directory management tools, Security Information Event Management systems or malware prevention technologies.
Experience analyzing IT incidents and identifying and escalating security incidents for response.
Practical experience in the planning and delivery of small-scale projects, including the preparation of required documentation.
Experience troubleshooting technical issues, conducting research, and presenting solutions to management.
Knowledge:
Technical skills and expertise in own functional area.
Knowledge of NAV CANADA’s mandate, mission, and organization structure.
Knowledge of incident response processes and best practices.
Knowledge of security monitoring processes and best practices.
Knowledge of systems logging and auditing processes and best practices.
Knowledge of security event analysis.
Abilities:
Ability to provide expert advice, guidance, and opinions in area of specialization.
Ability to coach others in field of expertise, problem solving, teamwork and innovation, relationship management issues; involve others in problem solving, decision-making, and creative thinking.
Ability to influence others outside of the team to ensure goals are met.

Working conditions:
There may be a requirement to work overtime.
This position is classified as Remote-Distance with up to 4 trips per year to the Ottawa Logistics Centre.
