WHY BOX NEEDS YOU

Box is looking for a Security Engineer to join our Cloud Security team and support an industry-leading platform. It is the responsibility of the team to secure our customers content by delivering trusted products and platforms. You'll also get to learn about supporting compliance, legal, and internal infrastructure efforts as we are often domain experts for them. You'll get to work with a wide variety of partners and customers on a team that values input and learning. 

We need a Security Engineer to drive making sound, repeatable decisions, and implementing those ideas via mature process, policy, technology, and engagement with partner teams at Box. In addition, we need you to help the team better understand your areas of expertise and interest, and to share your knowledge in a collaborative environment that focuses on enabling the team to share their unique skills and perspectives.  

WHAT YOU'LL DO

We are focused on various technical areas that support Security efforts at Box. You will focus on one or more of them. Some of those areas are:

• Network Security - Standard/Policy

• Public Cloud Reference Architecture/Policy/Standard

• Container Security - Logging, monitoring and tooling

• Security Benchmarking against industry accepted standard

• Governance

In the above areas, you'll be asked to:

• Perform hands-on threat modeling, risk assessment, and web service security validation

• Develop new tools, templates, and methods to help teams across Box scale securely

• Partner with Engineering to build a secure cloud native platform

• Provide security expertise for truly massive software projects and cloud service designs for a hybrid cloud model

• Mentor! Learn! Constantly hone your own technical skills and guide others to improve theirs

WHO YOU ARE 

• You have a BA/BS in Computer Science or related field

• You have 5+ years of experience in the security industry or as a systems engineer

• Expertise in Google Cloud Armor (or similar Layer 7 Web Application Firewall), including rule creation, tuning, and management

• Incident response and remediation – ability to quickly respond to WAF-related incidents, including blocking or mitigating threats in real-time

• Familiarity with edge load balancers – particularly those integrated with cloud services (GCP, AWS, etc.)

• Experience with Windows, Linux, and hypervisor or Container security (especially in cloud environments)

• Strong development skills (Python, go, php, Terraform, C++, micro-service architecture, API testing, fuzzing, etc)

• Security review / risk assessment (threat modeling, security code review, etc)

• Security architecture and risk mitigation for enterprise networks or cloud hardware infrastructure

• Demonstrated understanding of network protocols (TCP/UDP, SSH, TLS, DNS, DHCP, IPMI, SNMP, etc)

• Demonstrated understanding of applied cryptography (encryption, signing, certificates, algorithms)

• Team player who thrives under pressure

• Interest in working with leading-edge technology and demanding customers

• Obsessed in maximizing customer value high quality and reliable services

• A sense of urgency infused with infectious enthusiasm to drive our vision

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
