Position Description
The Anoka County Information Technology Department is dedicated to delivering innovative and cost-effective technology solutions in partnership with county divisions, departments, offices, local jurisdictions, and the public.
We are seeking an Information Security Analyst to play a pivotal role in safeguarding and enhancing the security of Anoka County’s technology infrastructure. This position is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security threats and incidents, ensuring the integrity and safety of our systems, networks, and data.

Pay & Benefits
Salary: $70,012 to $84,011 ($33.66 to $40.39 per hour).
2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 34: $70,012 to $98,009 ($33.66 to $47.12 per hour).

Work Location
This position will work at Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka MN 55303.
This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.
Typical work hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., however occasional after-hours work may be required to meet business needs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Information Security Analyst.
Continuously monitor security alerts, logs, and reports from various sources (e.g., SIEM systems, firewalls, intrusion detection systems).
Analyze and assess security incidents and potential threats to identify and mitigate risks.
Conduct vulnerability assessments and scans to identify weaknesses in systems and applications.
Collaborate with IT teams to remediate vulnerabilities and implement security patches.
Respond to security incidents, including identifying, containing, eradicating, and recovering from security breaches.
Conduct forensic analysis to determine the root cause of incidents and recommend improvements to prevent future occurrences.
Prepare and maintain incident response documentation and reports.
Stay current with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies.
Research and analyze emerging threats and vulnerabilities to provide actionable intelligence to the Information Security team.
Maintain accurate records of security incidents, investigations, and actions taken.
Prepare regular reports on security status, incidents, and trends for management review.
Collaborate with county departments, executives, and stakeholders.
Communicate progress, issues, and solutions effectively to establish open & transparent communications channels.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of job-related experience
In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
Possess or able to obtain security certifications, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional, CompTIA Security+ Certification, GIAC Security Certifications, Certified Information Security Manager and Certified Information Systems Auditor.
Experience with vulnerability and penetration testing and management systems.
Experience with Advanced Persistent Threats (APT), phishing and social engineering prevention and detection, endpoint detection and response, and advanced authentication concepts.
Experience with network and web related protocols and concepts (TCP/IP addressing, IPsec, HTTPS, VPN, VLAN, access lists, DNS, etc).
Experience with encryption technologies and standards (TLS/SSL, PKI, AES, etc).
Experience with personal office productivity & collaboration tools like word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, email, MS Teams, and Microsoft Windows based application software.
Knowledge of firewall and intrusion detection and prevention protocols and concepts.
Knowledge of security standards and frameworks.
Knowledge of secure coding practices and database platforms.
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
Ability to provide individual or small group instruction and training in the use of computer products.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
Standard office environment
Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades and brightness
Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds
Cognitive abilities required include problem solving, prioritization of tasks, short- and long-term memory, interpreting and understanding written documents, and general mathematical skills
Assignments may require several hours of varied physical activity in addition to viewing a computer screen, sitting at a desk, or walking/standing to assist county employees
Physical activity may include repeated bending, stooping, reaching, frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work, and occasionally pushing carts to transport equipment
Regular lifting of 20-50 lbs. while moving materials.
Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment in addition to IT maintenance equipment depending on assignment
IT maintenance equipment may include but is not limited to hand and power tools, electrical and electronic installation and testing tools/instruments, and personal protective equipment
Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed
Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle
