The Work You Will Do:

DEP’s Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) is currently seeking an Information Technology Business Consultant Manager-SES. The incumbent of this position will represent OTIS and must be helpful, cooperative, polite, respectful, and courteous at all times in the interactions with customers.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manage the daily operations and staff of the Applications Maintenance Services (AMS) Team within the Portfolio Management Section.
  • Supervise daily operations and staff activities to ensure continuing operations and effective service delivery.
  • Ensure systems are operational and fully supported.
  • Ensure operating procedures, processes and policies are identified, documented, adhered to and maintained.
  • Recruit, develop and manage staff according to OTIS budgetary objectives and personnel policies.
  • Supports the Portfolio Management administrator in developing, planning, organizing and administering policies and procedures at the direction of the Chief Information Officer.
  • Lead team in planning, developing and executing technology upgrades and special projects.
  • Participates in research efforts for approved methods of implementing new tools, technologies, processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong relationship and interpersonal skills in working with both external program and internal OTIS staff.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of established policies, procedures and directives necessary to accomplish assignments and responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

On site attendance at the DEP offices in Tallahassee is an essential requirement of the position.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent understanding of the systems development lifecycle, project management principles, and Agile software development
  • Proven experience in IT planning, organization and development
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems
  • Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices and procedures
  • Ability to determine and manage priorities judiciously, assign work and ensure proper completion of work assignments
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices; and to manage multiple activities
  • Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; exceptionally self-motivated and self-directed
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to supervise others

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field; or any combination of post-secondary education or verifiable related experience, as described above, for a total of four years.
  • Supervisory/managerial experience
