Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities
What We’re Looking For:
If you are experienced in computer systems security, then you will be excited about the Systems Security Administrator II opening with Iridium on our EMSS Operations Support team. As a Systems Security Administrator II, you’ll be responsible for the administration and maintenance of compute environments for Iridium Government services. Working in this role, you will perform configuration, maintenance, data backup and recovery, performance tuning, security upgrades, patches, and troubleshooting for use at multiple sites as well as the government cloud. You will thrive in this role if you have the ability to work both independently and with teams as well as set and follow priority schedules in accordance with the cadence of government cyber security efforts.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of compute and security hardware
- Play a role in maintaining data center infrastructure equipment including Windows and Linux servers, VM’s, Hypervisor, Netapp, GPS derived timing systems and scanning systems
- Work collaboratively to maintain proper Change Control and Configuration Management processes
- Analyze and assist to automate procedures that promote rapid response to known issues, both independently and with the team
- Work collaboratively to monitor networks and equipment daily—responding to alerts and providing on-call support—and analyze site events to proactively optimize system and application performance
- Identify and report fixes for issues or to address network login and application issues
- Work trouble tickets, create configuration change orders, test corrective actions
Experience & Education Requirements / EEO
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree
- 2+ years of relevant experience in the IT and Cyber Security industry
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and ideas to others
- Have confidence and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team
- Must be able to prioritize your tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed
- Be active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with others
Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g. CompTIA, RHCSA, MCSA, AWS Cloud Practitioner, etc.)
- Former military experience with security clearance supporting cyber security
- Previous experience with any of the following:
- AWS
- Windows Administration
- Active Directory
- Working in a telecommunications environment
We’ll also need you to:
- Be on call, on occasion, to support government operations
- Be able to travel up to 1 to 2 times per year
- Be able to lift and carry normal 1 person lift rated equipment (30-50 lbs)
- Be a U.S. Citizen
Work Environment:
This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. At times, this role will require helping the team on installations, which may require climbing and using power/hand tools. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For meetings in person, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.
