Job Title:  Product Build & Automation Engineer

Location:  Salt Lake City, Utah  - Flex

Role Overview:  Everfox is seeking a full-time engineer to support the Engineering organization as part of the Product Build & Automation (PBA) team. This team collaborates closely with Software Engineers, acting as a key resource for automation and product build processes. Strong virtual communication skills are essential, as the team members are expected to maintain an active on-camera presence in meetings.

Most of the PBA team is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, this position is classified as “Flex,” meaning it is primarily remote with the potential for partial in-office work if local and if company policies move in that direction.  However, in-office attendance is not currently required.

The first 6-12 months will be challenging.  However, the PBA is a close-knit team who meet daily and support one another’s projects sharing suggestions, prior experience and guidance.   Most work is self-directed and requires self-direction but questions and communication among team members is strongly encouraged. Everfox fosters a strong culture of work-life balance. Death marches, pager duty and working nights and weekends are not a part of the Everfox culture.  While there may be an occasional need for after-hour work, it is not typical.

Responsibilities: 

• Provide Immediate Help to Engineering, whether that’s working support tickets or addressing an outage with one of the applications PBA manages for Engineering. We are the first line of defense.
• Provide Guidance to Engineering and maintain the associated applications for CI/CD Pipelines – namely, Gitlab, Jenkins, and Artifactory.

The ideal PBA team member will have:

• A strong technical background and the ability to proactively identify opportunities for automation to improve efficiency and address problem areas.
• Understanding configuration management and the advantages of using dedicated tools over scripting for server setup is essential.
• Experience with tools such as Git, Docker, GitLab, Jenkins, Artifactory, vShpere, Python, Ansible, Terraform, and Packer is a plus. However, a strong understanding of when and why to use these tools is even more critical.
• A strong understanding of containerization and its benefits for both an engineer’s workflow and a system administrator managing applications is essential.
• A positive attitude and be able to admit to not knowing how to do something and demonstrate a willingness to tackle complex problems while maintaining a calm and systematic approach.

Education, Previous Work Experience:

• Ability to obtain US Government Security Clearance if needed in the future
• BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Security OR equivalent experience
• 4+ years’ experience as a Systems Engineer, SRE, DevOps Engineer, IT Engineer, or Software Engineer

Ideal Technical Skills:

Know a few of these at a minimum.  

Git, Artifactory, Docker, vSphere, Ansible, Python, Gitlab, Terraform, Jenkins Packer

Previous experience with ALL of them is not required but would be awesome! Your soft skills and willingness to learn are vastly more important.
