Summary:
Reports to the Executive Compliance Officer, Information Governance/HIPAA Privacy and Security. The Associate Compliance and Privacy Officer. Functions as the liaison between Corporate Compliance and the Organization, developing strong relationships throughout the Organization and working closely with management to develop, implement and maintain the Privacy and Corporate Compliance Program. The Corporate Compliance Program includes education, training and establishing appropriate mechanisms to facilitate the sustainability of an organizational culture of compliance; and. Serves as a role model for ethical management behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of the System's Code of Conduct and Privacy and Corporate Compliance Program.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates training and education initiatives
- Performs ongoing risk assessment, monitoring and auditing
- Develops policies and procedures
- Provides guidance for privacy related inquiries
- Audits or investigate privacy-related issues
- Stays current on changing privacy and security laws and regulations
- Prepares and submits notifications to individuals and government entities.
- Further, the Associate Compliance and Privacy Officer ;Attends compliance committee and other related meetings
- Prepares written reports summarizing privacy and corporate compliance activities for review
- Engages staff through routine communication to promote a team environment and improve workflow, communication, and on development of best practice techniques.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of health care compliance programs and guidance, and associated laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of information privacy laws, access, and release of information
- Knowledge of Health Care Regulatory standards
- Minimum three years of health care industry experience, preferably in an large, complex health system setting
- Extensive Report Development experience & Policy & Procedure development experience.
- Excellent Analytical, Written, & Oral Communications skills
- Experience in Public Speaking and Business Presentations
- Excellent Spreadsheet, Internet, Power Point, & Word processing skills
- Comfortable with changing technologies
- Demonstrated organization, facilitation, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to prioritize and plan work independently.
- Ability to interact with all levels of management
- Ability to effectively work with and coordinate the activities of outside consultants and legal counsel.
- Ability and skills to influence personnel through a matrix organization as opposed to line management authority.
- High level of integrity and trust.
- Active Membership and Certification though professional organizations, such as:; Association of Certified Fraud Examiners; Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA); Health Care Compliance Association; Association of Health Care Internal Auditors; American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
Education:
- Four-year degree with major coursework in business administration, health care administration, or similar.
- Certification in appropriate compliance areas such as Healthcare Privacy or Compliance, or eligible to sit for CHC or CHPC examination (or similar industry certifications).
