Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For:

If you are passionate about space and deploying disruptive space technology, then you will be excited about the Network Infrastructure Deputy Director opening with Iridium for a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. As a Deputy Director, you’ll be responsible for implementing continuous improvements cross-functionally, by setting objectives and effectively managing multiple priorities as it relates to network, security, Systems, Cloud, and Virtualized IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and Information Technology (IT) services. In this role, you will focus primarily on collaborating on solutions that promote efficiencies, as well as complicated discussions necessary to design, deploy, and maintain a highly secure Government Ground Network. You will thrive in this role if you have extensive experience in network infrastructure and strong knowledge in managing multiple initiatives across both internal and external teams, including across different companies, and government contracts.

 

This position requires an active/current Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Play a key role in the architecture process by analyzing current and future efforts for data and integration architecture, ensuring the appropriate use of methods and content, and mobilizing expertise to meet delivery needs
  • Evaluate and facilitate discussions on architecture alternatives, recommend technology solutions aligned with operational needs, and provide recommendations to leadership on critical architecture designs
  • Serve as a senior-level resource to resolve both internal and external client issues, developing policies, procedures, and service-level agreements (SLAs) to streamline service ticket workflows and ensure timely issue resolution
  • Identify and anticipate future Infrastructure needs, crafting solutions to satisfy requirements while continuously improving customer satisfaction and relationships
  • Ensure architecture standards support business objectives by evaluating industry standards and technologies and providing insights that enable informed decision-making among stakeholders
  • Leverage specialized knowledge to propose and support the adoption of innovative technologies in the data and integration domains
  • Collaborate with technology and business leaders to establish best practices for designing robust technology solutions

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science engineering or related field; or equivalent, relevant, and progressively responsible experience
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in information technology, preferably in a Mission Critical Operations environment
  • Must possess good judgement and decisiveness
  • Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively according to each situation presented
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information, drive discussion, and respond to difficult scenarios with limited preparation across all employee groups
  • The ability to build productive relationships with all levels of leadership to build consensus and drive results and champion collaboration across multiple departments
  • Be able to think on your feet to respond to difficult situations and resolve issues
  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities while ensuring that work is of high quality
  • Possess a deep understanding of networking, security, storage, compute, hybrid-cloud services, and virtualized environments
  • Experience with the following:
    • Virtualized computing and storage systems architecture environments
    • RHOSP, PaaS, and IaaS technologies
    • MPLS and TCP/IP communications
    • Thin Client technologies
    • TCP/IP communications
    • Linux, Vmware, and Kubernetes environments
    • Network management and modeling
  • Actively looks for ways to enhance and improve current processes and procedures
  • Must be proactive in seeking out knowledge and sharing what you’ve learned with others

 

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Experience with the following:
    • Government network standards and protocols
    • SIPR (Secret Internet Protocol Router), NIPR (Non-Classified Protocol Router), SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) management and usage
    • Project engineering, project management, and supplier management
  • Certification in AWS, Netapp, Vmware, Redhat, CISSP

 

We’ll also need you to:

  • Be on call, as needed
  • Be able to travel up to 25%
  • Be a U.S. citizen

  

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For in person meetings, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.
