Working Student is a long-term paid internship, that allows you to kickstart your fabulous journey in the IT and Telecom world. As our Trainee you can have experience working in such areas that correspond to full-time engineering jobs. The internship usually lasts from 6 to 24 months. Position: R&D Laboratories Working Student - Cybersecurity
Duration: 12 months (possibility to prolong to the next 12 months)
Location: Poland (hybrid in Wrocław)
Education Recommendations: Active student of Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science or Software Technology or equivalent education

As a member of Laboratory Operations Team, for our Common Services and Infrastructure (COSI) unit you will be a part of a team whose objectives are to deliver in an environment where openness, trust and teamwork are encouraged. We are looking for a Working Student to support our daily duties in Nokia Laboratories.

As part of our team, you will:

  • Assist in the implementation of cybersecurity program for Mobile Networks R&D laboratories, including hardening Linux systems, configuring and using security tools.
  • Ensure compliance of laboratory assets with security policies by validating and enforcing security controls using automation (Ansible, Bash).
  • Introducing and reinforcing Linux system administration best practices
  • Have opportunity to propose and implement automation solutions for various, routine Linux and security tasks
  • Work with internal customers being an interface to Business Line
  • Be coached by other team members in solving engineering problems
  • Collaborate as daily operations with project managers in planning activities

You have:

  • An active student status
  • Good communication skills in English (both written and spoken)
  • Coding skills – Python and/or Bash 
  • Configuration management tool familiarity (any of Ansible, Salt, Chef, Puppet)
  • Linux knowledge and troubleshooting skills in Debian/Ubuntu or CentOS/Rocky (installation, network and storage configuration, LVM)
  • Knowledge of general security topics like intrusion detection, firewalls, IP networks attacks, security incident management
  • Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, ARP, VLAN)
  • Analytical thinking skills and Teamwork skills
  • Strong desire to learn and quickly adapt to new technologies

It would be nice if you also had

  • Mobile Telecommunication knowledge is value added
