Director, Network Security Architecture

​This Network Security Architect role will report to the Cyber Security Office's Security Architecture Lead. This role is critical in ensuring the security and integrity of GSK’s network infrastructure. This position involves strategic planning, design, and implementation of network security measures to protect against cyber threats. Responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the security architecture of GSK’s network infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, network design, and emerging threats to create robust security solutions that safeguard GSK’s digital assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • This is an individual contributor role with a focus on strategic design and innovation

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive network security architecture strategy that aligns with GSK’s business goals and IT

  • Design secure network architectures for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, including LAN, WAN, remote access, and wireless networks

  • Evaluate and select network security technologies and solutions to meet current and future security needs. Ensuring network solutions meet the GSK’s security requirements and integrate seamlessly with existing systems

  • Lead the deployment and integration of network security solutions, ensuring compatibility with existing IT infrastructure

  • Work with IT and CSO teams to implement and configure network security controls and technologies effectively

  • Ensure that network security solutions are scalable, resilient, and adaptable to changing threats

  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address identified vulnerabilities and threats

  • Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures in compliance with industry regulations and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)

  • Stay current with emerging network security technologies, trends, and threat landscapes to inform strategic decisions

  • Drive innovation in network security architecture by exploring and adopting new technologies and methodologies

  • Continuously evaluate and refine network security solutions to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency

  • Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and other business units to ensure network security is integrated into all aspects of the organization’s operations

  • Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness and performance of network security solutions

Skills, Knowledge & Experience required

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Extensive experience in network security architecture, design, and implementation

  • Experience developing security strategies and/or reference architectures

  • Experience designing and deploying network security controls, and security solutions

  • Extensive knowledge of security technology including, but not limited to, encryption, authentication and authorization, security protocols, data and privacy security, AI/ML and application development

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR)

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat landscapes, and best practices

  • In-depth knowledge of network security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and cloud security solutions

  • Experience in global manufacturing, pharma, and/or a life sciences company

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Ability to write, develop, and maintain technical documentation, including security standards, security strategies, and implementation plans

  • Ability to prioritise input and filter actions that have significant impact on the program

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to promote thoughtful, practical solutions to tough security problems

  • Ability to communicate complex security concepts and strategies to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring understanding and buy-in

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills and ability to work under pressure

  • Ability to think creatively and drive innovation in network security​

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science

  • Any of the following: CISSP, CCIE, Azure, GCP, CISM, SABSA or TOGAF certifications
