OVERVIEW:
Alberta Blue Cross has an opportunity for a Network Security Analyst. You will be joining a team responsible for the planning, implementation, management, and monitoring of enterprise network and security technologies for the protection of critical infrastructure and data assets. While providing cybersecurity threat protection, prevention, and remediation using best practices, the Network and Telecommunications team supports the implementation of new business solutions while advocating for and enforcing IT security policies and standards.
The ideal candidate has strong technical abilities with a solid foundation of network fundamentals, strong communication skills, and a desire to work in a fast-paced infrastructure role focusing on security. This position reports to the Team Manager of IT Network and Telecommunications in the IT Infrastructure and Operations Department.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Maintain a highly stable, resilient, and reliable network and security infrastructure environment with a continuous improvement methodology, coordinating with other infrastructure teams, business units, and vendor partnerships.
- Contribute to implementation projects to deploy industry leading network and security infrastructure solutions following best practices enterprise systems.
- You will work with industry leading enterprise and data Centre network and security infrastructure, including routers, switches, application load-balancers, firewalls, and other critical systems.
- Infrastructure includes enterprise software-defined network infrastructure, multi-layer firewalls from leading security vendors, managed defense agents and anti-virus tools on endpoints, and internal and external public key infrastructure
- Ensure effective network security, zoning, secure application delivery, and wired & wireless network access control.
- Maintain network and security infrastructure, applying software and firmware updates, remediate vulnerabilities, and respond to alerts or events as appropriate.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues supporting critical systems and applications. Engage vendors as required to expedite resolutions.
- Participate in investigations and possible breaches following defined procedures, including malware analysis, endpoint forensics, and threat analytics.
- Enforce corporate IT security policies, standards, and guidelines, working very closely with the team responsible for corporate IT security governance and participating in compliance and audit processes as required.
- Develop standard operating procedures, security baselines, network diagrams, and other documentation as required.
- Resolve work orders for infrastructure-related incidents and service requests.
- Participate in a rotational 24x7 on-call production support cycle.
- The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete a personnel security screening.
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:
- A diploma or degree in a related technical discipline from a recognized post-secondary institute.
- Recognized IT Network and Security certifications is an asset.
- 5 years of hands-on experience in a medium-large IT environment is required, preferably with a focus on infrastructure and security. Mentoring experience is an asset.
- 3 years of hands-on experience with enterprise networks is required.
- Demonstrated project leadership expertise would be highly beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability using command line tools, scripting languages, search and query functions as well as using centralized administrative and provisioning platforms.
- IT network and security industry knowledge and interest with a passion to continue to learn and grow while being adaptable.
- Detail oriented with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to gather requirements and find innovative and effective solutions.
- Effective planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service are required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication, capable of effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders and documenting technical content.
- A positive attitude and a desire to build strong effective working relationships in a collaborative team environment.
- Highly accountable, ethical, dependable and responsible.
