We’re actively seeking a talented OR&R Capability Lead to join Operational Risk & Resilience (OR&R) team in Newport Beach, CA.  This role is on-site. You’ll work at our state-of-the-art Newport Beach headquarters.

As a Capability Lead II you’ll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by supporting our 1st line of Defense business owners in managing their risk in support of achieving their objectives. You will fill an existing role in the Enterprise Functions division. Your colleagues will include other Services Leads and fellow Capability Leads carrying responsibilities out in line with OR&R service delivery model. This position will report into the AVP, O&R Service Lead supporting Enterprise Functions.

How you’ll help move us forward:

  • Execute on key operational risk programs and initiatives
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the enterprise to further develop and strengthen the operational risk framework
  • Provide clear and concise verbal and written recommendations and guidance to peers on matters of operational risk management
  • Stay apprised of industry trends and regulatory best practices with respect to risk management and control frameworks
  • This role requires an energetic self-starter that can partner with a wide variety of colleagues across the enterprise. Ability to execute on change management initiatives is necessary for this role.

The experience you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience working in operational risk, a control function (e.g., Compliance, or Audit), or in change management capacity regarding risk/control initiatives
  • Experience across multiple risk programs (e.g. cybersecurity, third party, IT, people, talent, and program/project). 
  • Experience in operational risk management activities supporting Investments, Treasury and Finance, Human Resources, and actuarial business functions
  • Ability to present with impact and build consensus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivery
  • Experience using tools like Archer’s IRP, MS Visio, Excel
  • Excellent problem solving, root cause analysis, critical and strategic thinking skills
  • Change management experience, including project management

  • Ability to highlight key risks and evaluate effectiveness of controls
  • Certifications: CISSP or equivalent security certification(s) is preferred, including operational risk management certifications, e.g., ORM or similar equivalent
  • Experience supporting 1st LoD in maintaining Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and Issues Management.
  • Experience developing or walking business stakeholder through process/data flows via MS Visio
  • Experience working within the insurance and financial services industry, and related corporate shared service areas

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$134,280.00 - $164,120.00
