​​The Opportunity:
The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) supports the continuous monitoring and authorization efforts of multiple classified information systems under the direction of the Information System Security Manager (ISSM). Performing a variety of technical, and non-technical Cyber Security functions. Responsibilities also include physical and environmental protection, personnel security, incident handling, and security training and awareness. In close coordination with the ISSM and ISO, the ISSO plays an active role in monitoring a system and its environment of operation to include developing and updating the SSP, managing and controlling changes to the system, and assessing the security impact of those changes. This position is based in Westminster, CO.

The position shall have the detailed knowledge and expertise required to manage the security aspects of an information system and, in many organizations, is assigned responsibility for the day-to-day security operations of a system.

Responsibilities:

Operational Security Management:

  • Oversee and enhance the operational security posture of assigned information systems and programs.

  • Implement and enforce security policies, standards, and methodologies to safeguard sensitive data.

Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Compliance:

  • Prepare and maintain RMF accreditation packages using tools such as ServiceNow, eMASS, or XACTA.

  • Develop System Security Plans (SSPs) and provide recommendations to obtain Authorization to Operate (ATO).

  • Conduct vulnerability assessments using tools like ACAS/Nessus.

  • Complete STIG checklist evaluations and monitor IAVM compliance.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including architecture diagrams, hardware/software inventories, and data flows.

  • Translate technical system configurations into non-technical documentation, ensuring clear reporting on assessment and authorization statuses per organizational guidelines.


Policy and Procedure Development:

  • Establish, update, and publish cybersecurity policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain compliance with industry best practices and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Active NRO Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Polygraph.

  • Proven expertise in security tools such as ACAS, Nessus, ServiceNow, eMASS, XACTA, and other relevant RMF tools.

  • Proven experience in information system security roles, with a solid track record of leading security teams and managing operational security.

  • Deep understanding of RMF, cybersecurity best practices, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST, FISMA).

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex security issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across functions.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$75,200 - 158,100 USD
