US only; west coast preferred. Fully remote, requiring some travel to offices and partners.

We have offices in San Francisco and San Diego for those who prefer hybrid or office settings. Oura employees in other major cities (like Boston and New York) occasionally gather informally at local co-working locations.

The Sr. Director – Global Risk & Asset Protection will serve as a strategic leader, responsible for developing and overseeing enterprise-wide programs that ensure the protection of people, assets, operations, and reputation. Reporting to the VP of IP and Regulatory Compliance, this role will sit on the legal team and will be accountable for building and scaling comprehensive risk management initiatives, crisis response frameworks, and investigative functions across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in intelligence-driven risk management, resilience planning, and operational protection strategies while fostering a proactive culture of preparedness and response. Additionally, this individual will be adept at building strategic relationships and engaging with industry stakeholders (public and private sectors) to enhance program capabilities, gain actionable insights into emerging threats, and strengthen the organization’s risk posture. 

What you will do: 

Strategic Leadership & Program Development

  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide resilience programs, including crisis management, business continuity, and emergency preparedness.
  • Develop and execute strategies to protect critical assets, infrastructure, and personnel by anticipating and mitigating evolving global threats.
  • Establish a risk intelligence program to serve as the foundation for risk management efforts, leveraging insights to proactively identify, assess, and inform strategies for addressing emerging risks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders to integrate risk mitigation strategies into business operations and corporate objectives.
  • Foster a culture of proactive risk identification, awareness, and preparedness across the organization

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Act as a key advisor to senior leadership, providing strategic insights and recommendations on enterprise risk trends and mitigation strategies.
  • Foster strong partnerships with external agencies, industry groups, and peer organizations to stay ahead of emerging risks and best practices.
  • Lead cross-functional working groups to ensure alignment on key initiatives and drive organization-wide engagement in resilience efforts.

 Risk Intelligence & Threat Monitoring:

  • Develop and oversee an enterprise-wide risk intelligence capability, ensuring real-time risk and threat identification, analysis, and reporting to inform decision-making across the organization.
  • Leverage internal and external intelligence sources to drive informed risk management decisions.
  • Establish partnerships with government, law enforcement, and industry peers to enhance threat awareness.
  • Provide actionable intelligence to support operational, executive, and crisis management teams.

 Crisis Management & Business Continuity

  • Serve as the executive lead for developing and maintaining enterprise-wide crisis management frameworks, including decision-making protocols and escalation procedures.
  • Lead business continuity planning (BCP) to ensure critical operations can recover from disruptions.
  • Oversee emergency preparedness initiatives, including training, simulations, and scenario planning.
  • Conduct post-incident analysis and continuously improve response frameworks.

 Asset Protection & Investigations

  • Oversee internal and external investigative processes related to operational disruptions, policy violations, fraud, theft, workplace violence, and other potential risks impacting the organization.
  • Implement comprehensive strategies to safeguard intellectual property, ensuring proprietary information and assets are effectively managed and protected.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and risk management teams to uphold ethical and regulatory standards in all investigative functions.

 Supply Chain & Third-Party Risk Management

  • Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to enhance the resilience of global supply chain operations by developing strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure continuity of business-critical functions.
  • Implement risk assessment and monitoring programs to mitigate third-party vendor risks across the supply chain.
  • Implement risk management protocols to protect against counterfeiting, theft, and geopolitical disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements for third-party risk management.

 Facility Risk Management

  • Lead global office and facility risk management strategy, overseeing visitor policies, access controls, and surveillance to protect company assets, personnel, and intellectual property while ensuring compliance with evolving threats and regulations.
  • Develop, refine, train, and enforce risk management procedures, policies, and regulations across corporate, manufacturing, and supply chain environments.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity teams to align physical and digital measures.
  • Ensure facility risk management measures comply with local and international regulations.

 Travel Risk Management

  • Develop and implement travel risk management policies to protect personnel across global locations.
  • Provide real-time risk intelligence for business travelers and ensure alignment with organizational duty of care obligations.
  • Establish emergency response protocols for incidents affecting travelers, such as medical emergencies, political unrest, or physical threats.
  • Partner with HR and legal teams to educate employees on travel risks and protocols.

 Executive & Event Risk Management

  • Design and implement executive protection programs to safeguard key leaders and at-risk personnel at home, in transit, and at events.
  • Oversee risk management planning for high-profile corporate events, ensuring alignment with risk intelligence insights.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to implement best-in-class protective measures for corporate leadership and critical events.
  • Develop tailored protection programs to address unique risk profiles and evolving travel and event landscapes, ensuring alignment with corporate policies and objectives.

Requirements

We would love to have you on our team if you have:

  • 15+ years of experience in corporate risk management, resilience planning, crisis response, or related fields, with a proven track record of developing and leading global programs.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing large, complex initiatives across multiple business units and geographic regions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing strategic risk management programs, crisis management frameworks, and asset protection initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to think innovatively and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment
  • Experience navigating complex regulatory environments and aligning initiatives with compliance requirements.
  • Ability to analyze complex risk landscapes and translate insights into actionable strategies that align with business goals.
  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPP, CFE, CISSP) preferred.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments with global operations.
  • Familiarity with emerging trends in corporate risk and resilience, including technology-driven solutions and data analytics.
  • Proven ability to work with, and strong network of, law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and industry partners to enhance corporate initiatives.
  • Spanish language proficiency is preferred.

Oura takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

  • Region 1: $191,000 - $239,000
  • Region 2: $178,000 - $223,000
  • Region 3: $165,000 - $206,000
