Purpose of Position

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will be part of the Security Observability Platforms team, providing expertise in security monitoring, threat detection, and infrastructure observability. This role is instrumental in managing and optimizing Datadog for both on-prem and cloud environments, supporting SIEM operations, and ensuring effective security telemetry across the enterprise. The engineer will focus on enabling proactive detection and response through comprehensive visibility, performance monitoring, and security analytics.

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will collaborate closely with Incident Responders, Security Architects, and Infrastructure teams to drive improvements in visibility, troubleshooting, and security observability. The role involves enhancing security data collection, refining detection logic, and supporting DevSecOps initiatives.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize Datadog monitoring for on-prem and cloud security observability, ensuring real-time visibility into system performance and security threats.
  • Manage and refine SIEM integrations to enhance threat detection, log correlation, and incident response capabilities.
  • Partner with Cloud and Infrastructure teams to develop observability strategies, ensuring security tools provide actionable insights for troubleshooting and risk mitigation.
  • Support DevSecOps initiatives, ensuring security monitoring is embedded within the software development lifecycle.
  • Enhance network and endpoint telemetry to improve proactive detection and investigative capabilities.
  • Develop dashboards, alerts, and reports to support security operations, compliance, and risk management teams.
  • Work with stakeholders across IT and Security to provide deep-dive analysis on performance bottlenecks, security incidents, and emerging threats.
  • Participate in threat-hunting exercises, leveraging observability tools to identify anomalous behavior and potential security risks.
  • Assist in documenting policies, procedures, and security standards for log management, monitoring configurations, and event analysis.
  • Collaborate with GRC teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards (PCI DSS, SOX, HIPAA, etc.).

 

Education

Bachelor's in Information Technology or Computer Science

  • Strong expertise in Datadog for security and performance monitoring, including log management, APM, and SIEM integrations.
  • Experience with SIEM solutions for log correlation, threat detection, and incident response.
  • Working knowledge of cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-prem infrastructure monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK, OWASP Top 10, NIST).
  • Ability to analyze security telemetry and provide actionable insights for troubleshooting and threat mitigation.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices, security automation, and integrating security observability into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management, endpoint security, and network monitoring.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to correlate security events across multiple platforms.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interface with cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
  • Ability to work independently while driving improvements in security visibility and operational resilience.

This role is critical in enhancing security observability, strengthening threat detection capabilities, and ensuring seamless collaboration across Security and IT teams to support enterprise-wide security initiatives.
