The Team
Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.
The Role
We are seeking a Technical Product Manager (TPM) to lead the development, strategy, and delivery of engineering-focused products, including Managed Kubernetes Platforms and Identity & Access Management (IAM) applications. This role combines product management and delivery leadership, ensuring that teams successfully build and deploy scalable, secure, and high-performance platforms for our customers and internal users.
As a TPM for Engineering Products, you will bridge the gap between engineering, security, DevOps, and business stakeholders, driving innovation while ensuring reliable delivery and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Product Ownership
- Work closely with engineering teams to define and implement Kubernetes, IAM, and DevOps solutions.
- Own and refine technical product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Drive Kubernetes adoption and IAM best practices, ensuring a frictionless developer experience.
- Ensure IAM policies follow zero-trust security principles and least privilege access models.
- Delivery Leadership & Execution
- Lead end-to-end delivery of platform features, enhancements, and new capabilities.
- Define and track key delivery KPIs (velocity, deployment frequency, incident response, etc.).
- Partner with engineering managers, SREs, and security teams to ensure smooth implementation.
- Establish and drive Agile delivery best practices, optimizing sprint planning and backlog grooming.
- Proactively remove roadblocks and manage risks to ensure on-time and high-quality releases.
- Stakeholder & Cross-Team Collaboration
- Partner with engineering, DevOps, security, and compliance teams to align on platform architecture.
- Work closely with Engineering teams to ensure platform adoption and usability.
- Communicate product updates, risks, and delivery timelines to leadership and key stakeholders.
- Performance Optimization & Reliability
- Define and track key platform metrics (uptime, API response times, security incidents, adoption rates, etc.).
- Work with SRE and DevOps teams to improve platform reliability, scalability, and cost optimization.
- Continuously evaluate technical debt, security vulnerabilities, and performance bottlenecks.
Qualifications & Experience
Must-Have:
- 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, cloud security, or SaaS products.
- Proven experience driving end-to-end delivery of technical products.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Experience leading Agile delivery, backlog management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and translate technical concepts into clear product requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
Nice-to-Have:
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes, container orchestration, IAM protocols (OAuth, OIDC, SAML, LDAP), and cloud security best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes clusters (EKS, AKS, GKE), Helm, Terraform, or cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with developer platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Background in software engineering, SRE, or DevOps is a plus.
