POSITION SUMMARY
Sony Corporation of America (SCA) is seeking a summer intern to support its Global Security Incident Response (GSIRT) cyber defense team. The intern will contribute to a variety of tasks related to protecting information systems and data. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to learn and contribute to real-world security operations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Proofpoint Ticket Support: Gather and analyze information requested by Proofpoint email protection support for ongoing investigations.
Rule Optimization: Analyze Splunk data to identify obsolete security rules and recommend improvements to existing rules.
False Positive Analysis: Investigate security alert systems and logs to identify and mitigate potential false positives.
Support the team with various cybersecurity tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
Your qualifications and experience should include:
Current undergraduate or graduate student, preferably pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and draw conclusions.
Experience with data analysis tools: Proficiency in tools like Splunk or similar data analysis platforms is highly desirable.
Good communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations both verbally and in writing.
Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts: Familiarity with common security threats, network protocols, and security best practices is a plus.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on accuracy and quality.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Strong skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are essential.
Enthusiasm for learning and a strong interest in cybersecurity.
The target hourly rate for this internship is $21.00 per hour. The individual will be paid hourly and eligible for overtime.
