Job Summary:

Oversees the security department and the environment of care as it relates to regulatory compliance. Acts as a resource for department directors regarding all issues related to the environment of care. Ensures a standardized and systemized approach to security and consistent policies across the system in development and implementation. Enhances patient-family experience, develops risk mitigation strategies, and improves financial performance. Leads with an operational focus, setting strategy, objectives and policies.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Seven years' experience in healthcare security management: Preferred
  • Five years' leadership experience: Preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains working knowledge and ensures compliance with the Master Services Agreement (MSA). Lead discussions/meetings for MSA updates.
  • Uses discretion and independent judgment in oversight of system-wide security services, including regulatory compliance and management, quality assurance activities programs, financial performance/reporting, and personnel management and development. Accountable for system-wide financial performance related to security across the system.
  • Ensures The Joint Commission (TJC) proper documentation for the EOC and LS Chapters as related to security services is maintained across the system by the identified service provider. Complies with all Adventist Health policies and procedures, including but not limited to ethics and business practice.
  • Determines the degree of compliance with applicable standards, specifically in the areas of Joint Commission Environment of Care, CMS, Title 22 California Administrative Code, OSHPD, NFPA101 Life Safety Code-SOC/PFI/ILSM, Safety Management, Security Management, Bio-Hazardous Waste, and Hazardous Materials Management.
  • Ensures completion of complex internal hospital security investigations as requested by hospital senior staff. Maintains a professional working relationship with local law enforcement and correctional entities involving hospital-related matters. Serves as the hospital's point of contact and liaison with these various entities. Collaborates with key stakeholders in supporting their lead in updates of the Adventist Health Workplace Violence Plan and other risk management related initiatives, and policies.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
