The Senior Director of IT is a key leadership role responsible for driving and supporting the strategic direction of applications and information technology across the organization. This position focuses on aligning IT initiatives with organizational goals, overseeing enterprise-wide project strategies, and ensuring successful project delivery. The role includes resource management and mentoring a high-performing team while collaborating with senior leadership to support business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. 
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in Information Technology, with at least 7 years in a technical management or senior leadership role.  

Managerial Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills to foster a culture of mentoring, coaching, motivating, and engaging staff. 
  • Model and communicate key values in support of the organization's mission. 
  • Empower staff to meet organizational needs, adjust work schedules and priorities based on workload, and ensure efficient operations. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies and procedures. 
  • Support the strategic vision for IT and project initiatives that align with organizational goals. 
  • Lead the execution of enterprise IT strategies, ensuring innovation and alignment with business needs. 
  • Serve as a thought leader, advising the organization on trends and opportunities relating to emerging technology.  
  • Foster a culture of strategic thinking, innovation, and collaboration across teams. 

Essential Duties:  

  • Oversee all enterprise application and database strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities. 
  • Leads direct reports to deliver projects on time, within scope, and with optimal resource utilization. 
  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for high availability, disaster recovery, and data integrity. 
  • Define project governance processes, including approval workflows, change management, and testing methodologies. 
  • Establish and oversee database and application security access controls. 
  • Collaborate with senior management to define project objectives, goals, and deliverables that support business strategies. 
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project strategies, communication plans, and roadmaps for large-scale initiatives. 
  • Build and maintain relationships critical to successful IT strategy execution. 
  • Support executive decision-making through ROI analyses, strategic proposals, and budgetary planning. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:  

  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic IT initiatives aligned with organizational objectives. 
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills for evaluating complex challenges and devising innovative solutions. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience influencing executive stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated success in leading diverse teams and managing relationships with internal and external partners. 
  • Certifications and / or experience with CISSP, PMP, ITIL, or cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) are advantageous.
