Purpose
Reporting directly to the Global Head, Security Governance Services, the Director provides communication expertise and advice to Information Security and Control (IS&C), IT Risk Transformation leaders, and key stakeholders, by creating effective, innovative, and impactful communication content that drives the execution of IT Risk Transformation initiatives and programs. Other key accountabilities include:
- Design and implement communications strategies for Cyber & IT Risk, including creative digital strategies.
- Actively contribute to evolving the communications strategies and tactical plans to successfully deliver all prioritized initiatives and programs.
- Partner with Corporate Functions communications, Corporate HR departments, and other key stakeholders to assist with the development and deployment of change management/communication/ employee engagement plans and content for internal corporate-wide and external initiatives using various digital channels and tools.
- Collaboratively manage the communication function for IS&C and IT Risk Transformation, including management and monitoring of diverse delivery channels.
- Develop communications strategies for high employee engagement, building awareness through the digital channels available.
- Create and build communications strategies, digital assets, and innovate to solve complex challenges, leveraging data and analysis to assess the impact and performance of campaigns and initiatives.
- Continuously measure communication effectiveness and audience engagement through assessment and measurement plans.
- Provide direct communications support for IS&C and IT Risk Transformation senior leadership, including speech writing and presentation development.
What You'll Do
Communications Strategy & Planning (20%)
- Manage an integrated communication function that engages and aligns employees with Scotiabank’s business goals and IS&C & IT Risk Transformation’s business strategies, values and brand by leveraging diverse and creative delivery channels and methods.
- Proactively source content and develop strategies, plans, programs and activities that support IS&C and IT Risk Transformation’s strategic priorities and drive business outcomes.
B: Advisory (20%)
- Provide the Global Head, Security Governance Services with the communication expertise, advice and service required to successfully deliver programs and initiatives to the IS&C and IT Risk Transformation senior leadership team and employee population.
- Provide leadership to the Cybersecurity Communication team and business partners to enable high performance, alignment, and employee engagement across the IS&C and IT Risk Transformation team culture.
- Build and foster relationships with business partners and communication leads globally to ensure IS&C and IT Risk Transformation communication requirements are adequately addressed through communication strategies and project deliverables.
- Contribute to the development of the broader IS&C and IT Risk Transformation teams through relationship development, support and informal mentoring of team members.
C: Execution (50%)
- Create impactful communication content to drive employee engagement, build awareness and align all employees to the IS&C, IT Risk Transformation, and Technology strategic priorities.
- Create and maintain multiple internal websites to facilitate two-way conversations with key stakeholders and empower all IS&C and IT Risk Transformation employees to embrace the Bank’s culture.
- Plan, lead and execute internal and external events that align with overall strategic priorities.
- Develop and execute a measurement plan with relevant KPIs that drive the IS&C and IT Risk Transformation Strategic Priorities.
- Lead and manage multiple projects with conflicting timelines ensuring objectives are met.
D: Issues Management (10%)
- Identify key opportunities to streamline processes and scale initiatives across IS&C and IT Risk Transformation.
- Identify key and emerging issues impacting senior leadership and employees and work collaboratively with Corporate Functions communications to create plans and messaging to address.
What You’ll Bring
- Relevant university degree & certifications – English, Journalism, Education, Communication/Public Relations, Change Management, Business
- Seasoned professional in communications, social media platforms, event planning, employee engagement, storytelling
- Minimum 8-10 years leading communications on large scale or complex initiatives
- Strong leadership, presentation, writing and media relations skills
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders across the organization
- Excellent organizational, planning, analytical and critical thinking skills
- Financial Services (Planning/Forecasting/Budgeting) and Technology acumen
- Social Media Platforms: Viva Scotia and Viva Engage platforms
- Data analytics: Analyze data and translate into insightful trends/messages
- Suite of Publishing Tools: Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premier); Microsoft Suite (SharePoint, PPT, MS Word, Excel)
- Ability to select/design appropriate diagnostic tools (surveys, interviews, groups) and identify change implications
- Assets: Understanding of Cybersecurity and Technology trends, Project Management, Process Improvement, Business Analysis, Software Development (Agile) methodologies
