Because of a key strategic development and a new exciting business opportunity, we have a requirement for a security-cleared, DevSecOps Engineer based in the UK working at our Farnborough site and remotely in a hybrid role. The system and role have a security focus and the candidate must have experience in working in secure environments, as well as interacting with keen customers.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

As a result of some exciting programme wins, we currently have numerous permanent vacancies for security-cleared, DevSecOps Engineer(s) to aid in supporting development, transition & operation (inc capability upgrades) of a new IT infrastructure solution providing support to a critical operational end user.

This role will involve closely working various internal and external teams/suppliers in large scale integrations to maintain, develop and support pipelines in a SAFe Agile methodology based primarily on AWS and VMware Cloud Foundation Clouds.

This is role is a hands-on role, where the candidate will be expected to help guide the team and work to encourage knowledge sharing. The candidate is expected to self-motivate and work with the team in joining a good team ethic in a high-pressure environment.

This role involves automation and streamlining as well as pipelining COTS products using Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes among other components. This role involves creating operations and processes as well developing new deployments and integrations. The role will involve getting the system into operation and supporting that system into and through BAU, troubleshooting and resolving issues in dev, test, and production environments. The role will involve supporting and writing design and implementation documentation.

The DevSecOps Engineer will provide input and expertise to senior engineers to maintain alignments with best practices and recommending system improvements while overseeing the delivery including automated deployment, roll-back, monitoring of applications delivering into multiple development, test and production environments.

This individual is expected to create an environment for innovation and technical mentoring. You will be self-motivated and be able to work autonomously to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables, whilst also owning a variety of processes and activities ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPIs and SLAs. You must be an effective communicator, and comfortable directly engaging with customers and colleagues. You must also demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges.

The successful individual will be responsible for:

• Support software deployments, cloud infrastructure baselines, and operational availability of production systems.

• Managing, building, configuring, administering, operating and maintaining all components that comprise the DevSecOps environment.

• Support the Solution Architect(s) where required to ensure that proposed solutions requiring DevSecOps meet the requirement(s) and are compatible with the Engineering Baseline.

• Defining enterprise Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment processes and best practices

• Codifying DevSecOps best practices for enterprise

• Developing and maintaining scripts to automate tool deployment to AWS and VCF cloud environments and other tasks

• Scripting and maintaining build environments

• Working with project teams to integrate their products into the DevSecOps environment

WHO DO WE NEED?

We are looking for someone with excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills who has:

• 2+ years’ experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)

• In-depth experience with and detailed knowledge of both waterfall and agile software development methodologies

  • In particular Scrum and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) being an expert in breaking down deliverables via epics and stories to ensure traceability of requirements both functional and non functional over the delivery. Modelling best agile culture and practice helping to guide continuous improvement across the program

• Understand DevSecOps tooling including Jira, Terraform, Ansible, Gitlab and other pipeline technologies such as Nexus, SonarQube, Artifactory

• Experience with software engineering best practices for:

  • Java, Python and other languages

• Have experience of containerisation concepts and tools such as creating containers and Kubernetes (AWS EKS)

• Have experience of system integration methodologies

• Have experience of API development and management, including rigorous test and assurance processes

• Have good general knowledge of Networking Technologies including load balancing and firewalls as well as AWS Security Groups, AWS ELB, AWS WAF.

• Have excellent knowledge of Windows Server Environments, including OS build, AD, DNS, DHCP and GP from design to implementation and support

• Have excellent knowledge of Linux Environments including network administration, and networking protocols/functions (e.g., HTTP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, SMTP, DNS)

• Have good general knowledge of Microsoft Stack technologies such as MS SQL, MS System Centre, Office365, MS Exchange & CLI tooling such as PowerShell

• Database technologies including MySQL, PostgreSQL and Cassandra

• Experience with APIs and Data Distribution/networking Protocols

• Have excellent analysis and problem-solving skills, taking ownership of complex incidents ensuring these are resolved to the satisfaction of the customer

• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated experience in many of the following tools: Atlassian products, Jenkins Pipeline, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS EKS.

• Demonstrated experience working within a software development team and supporting developers and developer activities

• Demonstrated experience with scripting Languages including Python and Unix shell Scripting

Required Qualifications:

• AWS Certifications – AWS Cloud Practitioner

• Bachelor’s degree in science, technical, or engineering discipline.

• AWS Certifications - AWS Professional DevOps Engineer
